Okay, so it's cheap. I've never been to a La Quinta I didn't like until this one. First room reeked of smoke. Return to desk. Clerk went off on US for complaining (the entire hotel is supposed to be non-smoking!) because "We can't help what happens after the guests close the door!!" We got another room. Discovered a "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door. Back to the desk where we were told that NO ONE was booked in that room. Back up to the room, cautiously opened the door to discover room either occupied or just plain wasn't cleaned after last guest--I didn't leave the door open long enough to see if there was someone IN the room. The room was boiling hot, though. Back to the desk clerk to ask for a refund. The guy was hostile with US for asking because we had booked through Expedia. Third room was adequate--not great, but adequate.
The whole experience was disgusting, though, as the desk guy offered NO apology for any of the hassles, and treated us like WE were being unreasonable for complaining in the first place. Sorry to interrupt your online gaming, your meal, and the book you were reading, Mr. Clerk. Next time we'll try not to be so annoying--oh, wait! There definitely won't BE a next time!
