Staff dispute ruined our holiday
By ,
We arrived from England to be told our room wasn't ready and we couldn't go and relax in the bar or restaurant as it was closed. There was no room service either. The staff did not offer any discount for this and had no concerns about how we felt.I complained when I got back and they sent 50 dollars to use in their hotel which is an insult to us.We will not go back to this hotel or recommend it to any of our friends. The nicest people we met were the workers outside who were on the street protesting. The staff should try and be more friendly. This dispute was on 2 weeks before we arrived and it was not put on the website. This means they were aware that it would spoil everyones holiday.I am in the process of going further to complain.

Not very Happy
By ,
The Hotel itself is in an excellent place for everything downtown and I mean Downtown. I do believe they need to change the distance to things like the EatonCentre, or Cannon Theatre. It is not 6 blocks away. 6 Blocks down King to Yonge then 6 blocks up. The staff was friendly and smiled but I was not happy with the treatment. I reserved for two rooms next to each other with King beds and smoking. What is the point of reserving a head of time if this is not what you get. Our rooms were at opposite ends of the hall. I also found the room to be rather small for the price compaired to other hotels that I have stayed at. We were not componsated for the lack of sleep. We had very loud young guests, next to us and even after complaining, security came once. They were loud, throwing things in the room hitting our wall etc till 4 or 5 in the morning. Not happy. Our friends room the Air conditioner did not work, and they were sweltering. The Elevators were very slow, we could walk faster down the stairs then talking an elevator. The breakfast buffet was ok in the morning not enough to choose from. But our waitress was wonderful. I did not get her name. I found the room to be ok as far as cleanness. The carpets need to be steamcleaned as there were a lot of stains on them. And the air vents need to be cleaned as well. Not nice to see the black grung on the grates.

Great value US$80 night
By ,
What you would expect from the Hyatt name! Been refurbished, an upscale hotel if you can get the discount rate its very good value for $. Good location, cabs outside the door $5 ride to the major locations if its raining (it was). Definitely stay again.

Two weeks not enough notice!
By ,
I travel across North America a lot delivering training and this was my first visit at a Hyatt and it will be my last! Two weeks ago I booked a room with a view and requested hypo-allergenic bedding as they specify on their website that pillows and bedspread have feathers and I am allergic to feathers. When I got to the hotel I was told that my room wasn't ready due to my hypo-allergenic request and was told to come back an hour and a half later which I did but I was once again told that my room wasn't ready! How long does it take to replace some pillows and a bedspread? By then I was fed up with walking around in the Toronto heat and costruction and gave up telling the front desk to just give me a room, expecting to get a call advising that my room was finally ready. I never got a call and neither did I get a view despite paying for one. Unless of course you consider a view of a building under construction and the pool two floors down a view! The breakfast buffet was slimey scrambled eggs and cold dry sausage but I must admit the coffee and service was very good. I spent two nights on a almost futon hard mattress waking up congested and swollen, I had to pay for internet that seemed to have a strong signal but was dialup slow, NEVER AGAIN HYATT!

Little things mean a lot.
By ,
King bed was lovely and comfortable. Big screen TV was great. Website says you need to book a coffeemaker, but there is one in the room. No 4 cup coffepot, just a system of making one cup at a time. So we only got one cup each in the morning.. The creamer/sugar packets weren't sufficient for the paper cups.. Good thing I brought extra packets of sweeteners and creamers! The hotel is very modern and mimimalist. Sofas in the lobby are almost impossible to get comfy in. Room is very sleek, but little things are missing. A window to open would be nice, and a light is desperately needed at the coffeemaker. Bathroom has no coathook, no safety bar, no soap shelf, no shower cap, no place for a woman to put her purse. he bowl sink is fresh & modern but takes up all the counterspace. They gave only 2 glasses for a King room where two people would be staying. Extra ones for the bathroom would have been nice for toothbrushing. No wine glasses..No fridge/minibar. Tiny nighttables. Even with the Loyalty program, you have to pay $15 for internet.( It's free with Fairmont's President's Club.) We won the one night stay through a Hyatt draw in their Loyalty program, which we really appreciated, so can't complain too much.:-).but it's the little missing things that probably will keep us away from paying full price for this hotel. View from the room of the CN Tower, etc. was amazing. Location was handy for many attractions including the Rogers and Air Canada Centres.. We even walked to the Eaton Centre. Basement parking level was strangely HOT.. about 85F at a guess.. I think if Hyatt worked on those little details, this hotel would move up from nearly great to great.

Go somewhere else
By ,
The room was very nice, but we booked two beds (family of 4) and only got one. They charged us for a rollaway. The room only had two towels; we asked for more and rec'd attitude. Only two elevators that go up. The hotel was booked and it took us 30+ min. to get to our room because of 150+ people trying to do the same. I recommend spending a little more money and go to the Delta Chelsea.

Awesome Hip and Fun
By ,
Great location, next to the theatres, restaurants, bars, and nightclubs - can't ask for any more than this. Very modern and Hip. I have stayed here before when it was a Holiday Inn and that was a disaster. Not sure how much Hyatt spent on this place but total change! Got a room for $189 which was a great value - can't beat it......

Best holiday Inn i've stayed at.
By ,
I stayed at this hotel 02/24/06 - 02/26/06. I'm a Premium Club member and have poor sight, The staff were extremely friendly and helpful in assisting me, answering questions and sugesting places to go to eat, and giving me very detailed directions on getting there. I had a small issue with the people in the room next to us. there were about 15 or so people my age (20) having a party - it sounded like from 1am to - 4am that they were rolling one drunk back and forth to the wall. the hotel manager promptly took care of it the next day. Also, the beds in our room were very hard, i think the floor was softer. But those two things were very minor issues, this hotel is great, excellent staff, great location, and a good price. There's a great bar across the street "fred's not here"

Nice room but no ventilation
By ,
I stayed there 30 March 07 and 1 April 07. I knew that I'd want to smoke a Cuban cigar on this trip, so I reserved a smoking room. Great view of downtown from the corner room, but no ventilation to help get rid of the cigar smoke. For a $470.00 (Can) two nights price tag, I expected a little more. Convenient to EVERYTHING though. Bottom line, will I stay there again. YES.

Great room!
By ,
The renovated rooms are fantastic. Very nice for the price. The bedding is comfortable and the large flat screen TV is another plus. Will definitely come back here whenever I'm in Toronto.
