Super 8 Charlotte Amusement Pk, Charlotte

I love to read reviews about hotels before I decide to book it. I thought that because the reviews on this webpage were so old, that surely the hotel couldn't be THAT bad! Unfortunately, I was wrong. The hotel is old and has a musty/smokey smell to it. The floors creak and you can hear people constantly entering and exiting the hotel because of the way the door slams shut. The rooms are very small. There were five of us (2 adults, 1 teenager, and two small children) in the room and we were constantly stepping over someone or had to get on the bed just to get around the room. My parentsl also stayed at this hotel and their room was also small for them. There were stains everywhere, on the ceiling, on the chairs on the table and walls. The beds are very old. You could feel every spring in the mattress and they squeak/creak really bad. The hotel is located in a seedy part of town. Both my husband and my parents had very unpleasant experiences at the gas station directly across from the hotel. Customer service personnel can barely speak english. The continental breakfast was horrible. First of all there wasn't much to it. Just orange juice, danishes and coffee. The orange juice and the danish taste aweful! The snack machine was barely filled and the snacks looked like they've been there for quite sometime. We stayed on the second floor and you could hear the people on the third floor very clearly. The air conditioning barely kept the room cool. We booked this hotel at the last minute but I'm telling you, take your money elsewhere! The next time we visit Charlotte, we will definately stay directly across the street from the Carowinds amusement park or somewhere downtown. What a HUGE dissapointment!

The hotel itself mainly sits alone, however anything you could ever want is within a 3 minute drive. This includes Carowinds. We checked in right at 2pm and found the woman at the front desk nice. The room was just as we expected. One queen bed, television and reclining chair. The bed was average and so was the chair. The bathroom was nice and clean and the shower worked great. Breakfast was a little skimpy but that’s not why we stayed here. We stayed because of the great price and proximity to Carowinds. We stayed two nights and had no significant troubles. Every time we rang the front desk (which we did several times), the gentleman was very nice and polite. We would recommend this hotel to a family on a budget, or in our case, a couple just looking to get away, on a budget.

This place was terrible--I made the reservation on line for a trip to Carowinds we were taking---I liked the fact that it was soo close to the Theme Park, and a $68 a night--I thought not to bad of a deal. Our check in time was at 2pm--we arrived at 1:55--and when we tried to check in we were told that our check in time was not until 2pm so he would need to check if our room was ready! Seriuosly??? Was 5 mins going to make that much of a difference? So we waited the 5mins--then we were able to check in--as we walked to our room--we noticed that the entire hotel smelled of curry, oh yummy--NOT!--The room was as I expected--nothing special--but all in all--did not look to bad. We did not stay long cause we wanted to get to the park. When we returned that night I went to gat some ice---however there was no ice bucket--so I went to the front desk and had to wait a few minutes before a woman finally strolled to the desk---she did not say one word to me--I told her we did not get an ice bucket--she strolled to a back room--and then came back with a dirty bucket---still not saying a word and no bag for the bucket---so I had to go back to the room jsut to get the bag--then back to the front again for ice. There was also no shampoo or conditioner---I know this is not a fancy hotel--however it would of been nice to have somethin--but no, nothing--then when I went to use the hair dryer that came in the room, it cut off after about 10 seconds and was smoking--so I decided not to use it. When we finally went to bed--I noticed that the bottom sheet was not a fitted sheet, but a flat sheet just tucked in,and under that was a twin size mattress pad--we had a Queen size bad. We did not get any sleep that night because the bottom sheet came untucked all night and the mattress pad kept bunching up and we found ourselves sleeping on this random scratchy matress. Now the continental breakfast--I knew it was continental---but usually that means--a toast, bagels, muffins, danish, fruit, and a variety of cereal---as the pictures shows--nope---all they had we 3 differet flavors of danish--and some bran flakes--there was nothing there to eat----so we were going to grab a snack out of the vending machine real quick---however the only vending machine in the entire hotel was fully stocked---however of course--it was out of order---BIG SUPRISE----so when we finally went to check out---the Lady at the counter asked how everything was---I explained to her the trouble with the sheet and she said---oh we dont use fitted sheets---the entire hotel is flat sheets=----wow---thats nice to know. I know we did not spend a lot for this room---but really----we ould of done better looking for a hole in the wall---they might of had more to offer---I will never stay here again--or at any Super 8 for that matter!!!

It obviously had not been cleaned in a long time. The bathroom was so filthy, you could see the scum on the tub. We didn't bother to shower when we left, it was that bad. The table was so dusty, you could write on it. This was by far the worst motel we have ever stayed at.

my family stayed at this motel while on our short vacation in june. the room smelled of unine.4 days after staying here I got cellulitis in my leg from poor cleaning of the bathroom area
