Better than the Hilton in Burlington!
We stayed at the Comfort Inn at Maplewood on our second nights stay in VT while attending an open house at Norwich University with our son. Our first night was spent at the Hilton in Burlington. While the Hilton had comfortable beds and the rooms decor was nice, that was about all I can say. The second night we moved down closer to Northfield and after the open house, we checked in to the Comfort Inn. I was pleasantly surprised! We had a corner suite {beautiful views!} with a kitchen with table and two chairs, {we didn't use it, but it was nice} there were two chairs, a pull out couch where our two kids slept, {they said they didn't like it, but they are picky!} A tv in both the living room and the King size bedroom my husband and I slept in.{Very comfortable King size bed I might add!} There was also a desk and chair in the living room, and a chair in the bedroom. The bathroom far exceeded the Hilton's! The Hilton should take a hint from the Comfort Inn for what a bathroom should be like in a nice hotel! There was a gas station just in front of our hotel which we found to be very convenient, and there was also an Applebee's just steps away. We all enjoyed dinner there. There was a wagon full of complimentary Apple's greeting us at the Comfort Inn, and there was also free wireless internet which my son was very pleased about after seeing it would cost $10.00 at the Hilton for access. While there was no pool at the Comfort Inn, we were too tired to use one anyway. They do offer use of a local fitness center for $5.00 if you do want that feature. Hilton had a pool and a hot tub, but I wasn't too impressed with it.
We paid almost twice as much for dinner at the Hilton with very slow service and the food wasn't any better than at Applebee's. We were offered a free breakfast with a nice seating area at the Comfort Inn which ran from about 6:00 to 10:00. I slept in, but my family had a bite. The Hilton did not offer free anything, and charged outrageous prices for the small breakfast items you could purchase. We used Dunkin Donuts instead.
Except for a few flies we had to kill, all in all, I would definitely stay at the Comfort Inn at Maplewood again next time we go to VT. We had a great time and visited the Rock Of Ages the morning we left to come home.
Don't hesitate to make reservations here. Especially if you are attending Norwich for anything. It's only about 20 minutes away, and you couldn't ask for more.
