Ridge Sierra, Stateline

We have been owner for over 25 years. We always stay at Olympic Court and since the reason we bought was the hot tubs on the roof...have to say how disappointed we are that for over 4 years they have not been there. I called the resort and asked if the hot tubs would be there this year and was told yes they would be there. Well, they were, but they were in the parking lot taking up space. We were there for 7 days and they worked on them one day...Our fees go up every year from in 1989 it was $312.00, last year was over a thousand dollars..issues: hand rail on 1st set of steps.wobbly and could easily be pushed over..Bear gate does not close..woodsiding and lumber in poor condition.siding is exposed and dry rotting. large portions of insulation are exposed..siding is falling off. roof needs repair..glass barrier has a crack and has had it for at least 2 years..door to hot water heater falling off hinges. mold in grouting in bathroom can ceiling of living room..replaced stove with combo mico/comvection oven..hate it and if you want to cook anything you have to sit on the floor to try and figure out how to work it..Whose bright idea was this. furniture is old old old...nothing in the way of furniture has been new for a long long time...Patio furniture is the cheapest crap I have ever seen..can't move table because legs fall off...One big question is where are our maintence fees being spent? Certainly not at Olympic Court.. So very very disappointed and can hardly wait until I get our new bill....Bottom line..stove stinks...mold is dangerous..patio furniture is plastic and breaking...couch doesn't have any padding on arms and feels so dirty...Get it together or you will lose all members...Also forgot to mention the ancient TV and DVD player...since TVs are so cheap now why in the hell haven't they been replaced...DVD player must have cost them under $25.00..mattresses haven't been replaced for ???? years...

Horrible, horrible customer service. The water heater continually went out and when we called for service did not receive a response until late the next day. They advertised for free wifi but after the first day we got there (Friday) it was down. After inquiring about delay to get working again was told Internet in Tahoe is spotty and expected to be down. The rest of mountain didn't have a problem with their Internet provider. Since I work from home I am continually checking and responding to emails. Thankfully the waitresses at Fox and Hound let me use their free wifi for an entire morning. The furniture was extremely dated and uncomfortable. The entire place reminded me of a bad motel room not an enjoyable family vacation rental. I felt dirty and extremely disappointed that this was the exchange offered in place of the Maui ocean view condo normally used.

There are a ton of stairs - not for anyone that has trouble walking. The room and furnishings are dated and starting to fall apart. We asked for dining chairs that weren't broken, so they brought us plasitc chairs - great. Request the main resort at Ridge Tahoe. The main buildings have all the activities for a family. Apparently, they bought some of the condos (Ridge Sierra) in the area, which a shuttle away from the main resort. The parking lot has asphalt pealing away at the edges, which is scary if you have little kids. People also drive fast in front of the Ridge Sierra, which is scary if you have little kids. The shuttle to the main resort (white van) was awesome - the drivers were polite and the service was fast and accomodating. There is a nice view off the deck. The jacuzzi on the roof was not working, would have been nice had it been working. WiFi in the room costs $20/wk - they didn't need to charge for that.

Not a place to bring young children, because theres not a lot to do at the resort. Adults who like to have morning coffee and evening drinks with the best vally views will really love the RS. We have been several times with our timeshare and always enjoyed it. we have also been to some of the other "ridge" resorts and you take a chance of getting the "parking lot" view at them (we got the parking lot view TWICE at the ridge tahoe). Every room at RS has a great view. It's true there are no elevators and lugging the bags up or down stairs isn't optimum, but for the privacy and the serenity, it is well worth it.

This is the perfect place if you like a cozy, warm woodsy setting with fireplace and large soaking tub. Ample room in our condo, with a nice covered back porch and hot tub nearby. Dated, but it gives it that "family" feel - not so pretentious. Skiing is very close by. We will definitely go again!

My husband and I loved this resort. There's a hot tub on the roof which has a gorgeous view of the surrounding mountains and valley below. We were within walking distance to another lookout point on the opposite side showing Lake Tahoe. The condo was spacious and comfy. We also had access to an Internet free of charge. There is also a small restuarant/snack shop nearby. We are going back again to Lake Tahoe because there is no other more beautiful place on earth!

We've been owners at this resort since 1988, and yes, it is dated... but that's what keeps bringing back the memories of the joy of going there with our kids. Now, they are full grown adults, but every two years we all meet back at the Ridge just to be together. We've been there both winter and summer and our experience has always been excellent. The views are unbeatable, the proximity to Heavenly's skilifts is a definite plus, and Tahoe is a resort that always allows a solid week of non-stop activity. Granted there are stairs and no elevators, but that's why there are the large casino hotels in town. We love this place because it's one of the few places that isn't all modernized and state of the art "posh". It's just a great place to spend a week with your family.

I stay at Ridge Sierra at least once a year and while the facility has in the last couple years suffered from some maintenance issues (units were constructed in early 80's and some wear and tear has begun to show, but it's being addressed) it's difficult to imagine a better value for vacation time than this. I can routinely find unused timeshare weeks for Ridge Sierra for around $500 - which means that for around $75/night, you get a great 2 bedroom/2 bath condo with 2 decks and a great location. Ridge Sierra is far enough out of Stateline to be quiet while close enough to make going into town easy. Hiking is literally available outside your door, as is skiing. The units are large and comfortable, even if they've started to look "80's-ish". Fireplaces, TV with vcr, nice kitchens, and rooftop jacuzzi - not a bad way to go for a price that's typically more along the lines of Motel 6 than something this comfortable. Another reviewer complained of wheelchair access, and true, this is not a place you could enter via wheelchair - but then, most of the accomodations on the mountainside would be difficult because, well, it's a mountainside. Be prepared for going up and down a lot of stairs. But for a week in one of the most beautiful places in America, it's very hard to beat.
