Never again
We stayed at the Days Inn for two nights, and a month later, both my husband and I were billed for the room again. (We'd each paid for one night using our debit cards) When I called the hotel, I was informed that the manager, who was the only one with access to older transactions, had just left for the long holiday weekend, and wasn't expected back until Tuesday morning. I explained my dilemma and left my name and number. I wasn't too concerned at this point, since people do make mistakes, but I thought it was odd that 1) my husband was also double charged, and 2) the manager wasn't expected to even call the hotel he managed over the long weekend and that the staff had no way to reach him.
Tuesday morning arrived, but the phone call I was promised did not. I call Days Inn, identified myself, and was told that the manager was in, but wouldn't be available for 4 hours. I called back in approximately 4 hours, and when I stated my name and the purpose of my call, I was told that the manager was not available. By this time I was completely frustrated and had to come to terms with the fact that we'd been ripped off.
When my husband and I lodged complaints with the Days Inn Corporate Office, we were told that they'd contact the manager directly, resolve the issue, and get back to us within 7 business days; it's been 120+ days and neither of us has heard anything from anyone.
It's unbelievable to me that the Days Inn is able to get away with what amounts to stealing. I enjoyed my stay at the hotel and didn't have any complaints, aside from thinking that some of the staff could be a little bit more friendly, but I realize that dealing with hundreds of tourists every day can be grueling and I wasn't about to make an issue of it.
On a side note, I discovered that the women who'd told me that only the manager was able to look up "old" records was lying; when I called last week to get a copy of my hotel receipt, I heard the woman tapping the computer keys and within 20 minutes it had been faxed to me.
In all, I'm very disappointed with the Days Inn, AND the corporation itself.
