13 reviews for Comfort Inn Airport At Old Town, San Diego

It was excellent. Staff was **wonderful**. Continental breakfast was as ample and good and staff assisted with making fresh waffles. Inside store very handy. No unexpected surprises: clean, efficient, and we would return there without a question. We had to move on to Marriott at the Marina for the rest of our business trip. Missed this hotel for friendliness and affordable amenities! Only want safe, clean, affordable, comfortable and friendly in a room. This hotel had it all. Highly recommend this hotel. Staff professional. The stay was excellent and perfect for my needs..Shuttle was prompt and free (driver was professional, knowledgable and friendly), free internet, fridge and micro, I wasn't there for the view, though I found the grounds very pleasant. Swimming pool, hot tub, colorful flora. It was San Diego and that was fantastic alone. My trip started beautifully with this stay. Thank you to all staff!

The staff is fantastic!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/06/08
The staff is fantastic and I cannot praise them enough! My wife and I were in town to attend our son's graduation from Marine Corps boot camp. Afterwards we were shuttled back to the hotel to pick up our belongings and our new Marine with us, we were shuttled to the airport. It was there my wife realized we had left his pictures (the ones of him in his dress blues and of his platoon #3271!) back at the hotel. I called and Ruben dispatched housekeeping staff to retrieve them from our room, he then had Billy make a "special" trip in the heavy Friday afternoon airport traffic to get them to me. I feel this "above and beyond" treatment of guests (in our case former guests) qualifies as fantastic. This is why I say 'I thank and praise them again and cannot do so enough!'

Great Price...Nice Room...Not a Resort
By EmilyS, 08/11/08
This is a great place to stay in San Diego. It is centrally located near Sea World , Lego Land, Coronado Island. If you are just sleeping, naping and changing when you are on vacation , this is the best spot and the best price. They have contential breakfast...which is great if you have a family. Saves you money...plus there is a frige and microwave in the room which is ideal for family traveling...and another way to save money on food. It is right next to the freeway and a little noisy outside...but not intrusive inside. Our family stays here everytime. We want to spend money on the fun stuff...not the room.

Not bad, but could have been better...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/28/08
We stayed here as part of a Wyndham Vacation Resort package, so we didn't get to choose our hotel. The hotel was okay, and since we had read many reviews, were sure to get a room on the street side, not the hotel side, since we like to open our windows. There were a few glitches with our stay. The first night, I went to take a shower, and found there was no hot water. Since I was pretty grubby from traveling and going to Comic Con all day, ended up with a cold shower. They did get it fixed about 10PM, though. Also, can recommend that you get an upstairs room. Each night, we knew exactly what the folks upstairs were doing, when they showered, when they went to the bathroom, when they turned on the TV... you get my drift! Especially since they got up and showered at 5AM! But there was good, too! They rescheduled the shuttle to comic con when they found out several of us needed to get there earlier. The staff was friendly, and helped us find restaurants and grocery stores when we needed them. When called about the hot water, they did apologize and let us know that there was a break in the plumbing, and that the plumber was on site and working on it. Final rating, good, but not excellent.

a great place to stay
By Frankie S, 06/28/08
everything about this hotel was great. the price was extremely good compared to a lot of hotels in the area. from the moment i checked in, i knew this place was going to be nice. the clerk at the front desk was extremely nice, offering to answer any questions we had about the area. the room itself was extremely clean, not to mention all the perks. a nice, big LCD TV hanging on the wall. a pretty big and very clean bathroom with a great showerhead. free high speed wireless internet. a frig/microwave. the hotel is located right next to I-5, which can get a little noisy, but i managed to sleep through it. i'd imagine if you asked for a room on the opposite side of the freeway you wouldn't have that problem. the free breakfast buffet was amazing too. waffles, hard boiled eggs, cereal, juice, muffins, yogurt, it had it all. the hotel even has a small store in the lobby with drinks, snacks, frozen treats, and fresh sandwiches. the hotel is located in old town, which has a TON of nice restaurants and shops within walking distance to the hotel. or if you're looking to go downtown, the trolley station is a couple blocks away. it's about a 10 minute drive away from mission beach, and not far from other beaches. all in all the hotel was amazing, everyone was very nice and i would stay again in a heartbeat.

New Quiet airport windows!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/01/07
I just spoke to Ruben at front desk today, October 1, 2007, 10:30 a.m. CT... I believe I did stay here several years ago, but have not checked my records today. If so, I know I was walking distance to Old Town, and this was a nice place back then.. Now,,,regarding my conversation today with thir Staff (Ruben - very very nice fellow). He said, 'The freeway side rooms have new airport soundproof windows, the owner take great pride in this hotel, good breakfast, and people who usually stay at higher-end hotels (like me) such as the Marriotts wonder why they pay the cost of them, when this is such a nice hotel." No city view (residential). I've been to Old Town, and it was quite nice... I'll report back on October 17-20...2007

Slept well!
By Kamakazi Queen, 08/31/07
The staff was very friendly, and our room was clean and very comfortable. We had a refrigerator, and a microwave which is a plus when you are traveling with a baby and two children. Our beds were very comfortable, and CLEAN. This is one of the rare times I felt like I could sleep in the sheets and lay my head on the pillow case and it would actually be clean. There was a nice continental breakfast in the morning. My only complaints are it was a little hard to find, the freeway and airport were right outside our window (although I only add that as a complaint because we didn't have a very good view. The room was fairly sound proof and I slept like a baby. I didn't even notice there was a freeway or airport right outside our window until I opened our curtains the next morning). The pool was crowed and there were about 10 children that were there unsupervised. They were running back and forth between the hot tub and the pool. When we went to go check out the hot tub there were over 20 people crammed into it!

The Staff was the best part!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/27/07
Selected the Comfort Inn due to it's close proximity to the MCRD, for the convience,to attend the "Family day", also the Graduation. We could not have been more pleased with the staff. Shuttle service was excellent, thanks Alex! All other services thanks Reuben!
