Not worth the money
By Barney Rubble, 08/13/08
Check-in was fast and staff friendly. Stayed on third floor with two doubles. Beds nice and comfy. Living room counch was dirty and stained. Thermostat was fallijgn off the wall and couldn't be adjusted. Wallpaper peeling off walls in all rooms. Lamp between beds was covered in a layer of thick dust. Tiled ceiling in bathroom/shower had mold growing on it. Only a half roll of toilet paper in suite, no extras. Funky smell from refrigerator. Hot tub wasn't working properly. Breakfast was okay - sausage rounds, scrambled eggs, corned beef hash, fresh pineapple, yogurts, breads, juice. Had a better experience at cheaper hotels next door previously.

WOW!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/16/08
My wife and I booked this online and got a great price. When we checked in, I got a huge surprise. The room was remarkable. Size for value was incredible. Daily social hour with food and drinks were great. They also offered a daily hot breakfast included in the price. I’d stay here again without a second thought.

surprised
By jamesf, 07/09/08
I really liked the hotel overall. The surrounding area made me a little nervous, but the hotel itself was nice. My husband, myself and our 3 kids were on vacation visiting carowinds down the road...the hotel was easy to find from there. When we first arrived there wasn't any toilet paper in the bath room...i had to call the front desk and to their credit someone brought one roll up quickly. The beds are very comfortable and the overall layout of the room was nice. I was surprised that when I got up at 7:30 (I slept late since this was a vacation)I found that there wasn't any hot water. I waited about 15 mins and tried again...I continued to try until 8:30 and when there was still no hot water i called the front desk to be told that there must have been alot of people taking showers that morning.I continued to try until 9:30 when we checked out. I guess if I ever go back then I should wake up at maybe 6 a.m. to get a hot shower. Overall our experience was good..we had alot of fun and I am not too difficult to please but I was surprised after reading the reviews and the money that we paid for this particular hotel that I am not able to say that I would go back and stay there again.

"Okay" hotel but do not
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/02/08
...trust the management. We were promised an additional 30 minutes to check out by staff but management charged half day rate and refused to accept staff committment. If you want anything "extra" ask for it in writing!!!!

Beware of leaving your car here
By Jennifer, 03/31/08
I stayed at the hotel for three weeks while in NC for business. The hotel itself was fine, and the food offered in the mornings and evenings was fine. However beaware of the staff and security guards. Here is what happened: On my checkout day, I went to the parking lot and unlocked my vehicle with my remote keychain, and upon opening the driver side door, I immediately noticed the vehicle had been gone through. The glove box was opened, and items from the center console were scattered on the driver and passenger seats. As I turned to shut the door, I then noticed items in the bed. They included a briefcase and laptop bag, which did not belong to me. I went back in to the hotel, straight to the front desk, reported the break in and asked the man running the front desk to call the police. The staff person at the desk replied that there was no point in calling the police right away. He explained that break ins happen a lot here, and the police can’t (or won’t) come, until later in the morning. During this conversation, the security guard came over and said before her shift started, around 9pm the night before, she noticed the truck had been broken into. She had in her possessions items from the truck including the frequent player cards. She explained she found them in the parking lot. This indicated to me that a bag of change I had stored in my center console, which is also where I had stored my player cards had been stolen. From first glance, the truck showed no indication of entry. The driver side lock was damaged, but not immediately noticeable. Additionally, my truck sits pretty high, and I find it suspicious she was able to see in, and take note of the items askew, just on her way in for her shift. If she had noticed these items the night before, I inquired why I had not been contacted, as my name is plainly visible on the cards. She then explained that she did inquire with a lady at the front desk , but there was no record of my name as a guest. I also found this hard to believe, because not only did I have a reservation, my name was included on the shuttle service list, used everyday for the last three weeks. When this incident was discussed with my business associates also staying at the hotel, they explained to me that they had noticed the security guard looking in car windows as they were coming and going from the hotel parking lot. Although this can only be speculation, I whole heartedly believe this security guard played some role in the break in. Or the security company hired by the hotel is not hiring competent trustworthy employees.

Under Construction
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/12/08
The staff is very friendly but the amenities are very bad. The sheets are paper thin and have holes in them. Also there is no mattress cover. The first room they put me in looked like the door had been broken into and would be easy for someone to open. I noticed the tables in the eating area, where they will be serving breakfast where dirty. No free breakfast for me. I'd rather go to McDonald's. I am definitely considering staying some where else tomorrow. At least some place that has good bedding and cleaner facilities.

Hotel under construction
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/22/08
We were not told prior to our arrival that the hotel is being remodeled. The breakfast area has been set up in a makeshift area that I think was previously the fitness room. The breakfast was not the "full breakfast buffet" that was advertised but a very typical high carb continental breakfast. The fitness room was also disappointing as it had been moved to an office that had only enough room for a treadmill, stair climber, weight bench and TV. Our room was really nice, though it was also under construction. The bed was extremely comfortable as was the couch. The TV in the living room was High Definition which made my husband happy. It was nice having a kitchen but there was no table to eat a meal. There were no pictures on the walls, just the nails where they had been hanging. The room was pretty quiet, especially considering that there was a cheerleading competition in Charlotte and many of the girls were in our hotel. We had a nice time but we probably would have stayed someplace else if we had known that the hotel was under construction. We had really been looking forward to a nice hot breakfast and were quite disappointed when we saw the continental fare that greeted us the first morning.

Great front desk
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/10/08
The night front desk on 1/5 was excellent. even thouhg we had booked at the wrong location, she still helped us in finding a new location if we chose. It was very late and we just stayed. I mentioned that it was my friends birthday and she gave us a upgrade! She was very cheerful and helpful! The next day though when we checked out they doubled charged us. we had prepayed online and had to use a card for incidentials and instead of seeing that we were prepay, my card was cvharged and has yet to be removed!

Can't Stay Away...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/05/07
Each year my family make a special trip to Charlotte, just a ritual of ours and the hotel stay is what really keeps us coming back. Excellent Service long before it became a Hyatt property so I'm sure this is only going to make it better.

We always stay here when we visit relatives in Charlotte
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/23/07
We have stayed there about six or seven times. The fornt desk is always helpful and friendly. The rooms are nice enough and large enough. Good price! Just remember it is not the Ritz.
