Country Inn & Suites, San Diego

Love the whole staff, particularly the front desk. They were thoughtful, caring and answered every question or problem we had immediately. Truly great kids. I can say that because I am 68. Pretty much everyone is a "kid" to me. Ha! Absolutely loved the breakfasts and the helpers there, particulary one young man who was always on the spot clearing and smiling. Beyond expectation. Daughter loved the pool, even though it was chilly, she used it a lot. Suite nice and clean. Loved the WiFi and computer room availability. Having a fridge & microwave saved $$. Beds okay. I liked them, but my husband's back hurt pretty badly. The chairs and sofa were great, but the sofa bed was uncomfortable on the back because of the brace support. So my daughter slept on the couch instead. Very loud AC/heater, had to turn up the volume just to hear the television. Dryer broke down, and there is only one for the whole facility. That should be addressed as there are so many people there, especially on weekends. Not much space to store your suitcases in the closet, you need to store them in a corner of the bedroom. Lots of storage in the cabinets for your amenities and clothes. But our overall stay was wonderful. We'd go back there in a heartbeat. It was a great headquarters for our week in San Diego. We miss it and this was a nostalgic trip back in time as we went places we used to live and recreate 30 years ago, and had the privilege of showing our daughter, our "old haunts." Even met with a friend of my husband's from SD whom he hadn't seen in 30 years. And it was in the breakfast room of Country Inn & Suites. How's that for a finale to a great vacation? Hats off to Country Inn & Suites and you rate an "A" from these visitors to your hotel. Have already recommended it to our family and friends and hope the word spreads.

We inadvertently found ourselves in this hotel after our reservation at the Residence Inn at La Jolla Dr in San Diego was 'cancelled' by a staff member who told us that the booking method we had used only entitled us to book into a Marriott, at 4.00am, despite a phone check-in, and despite the fact that we had just come from Las Vegas hotel from the same chain! A very good gentleman called Ryan listened to our plight, and promised to get housekeeping to clean up a room at the earliest opportunity, once anyone checked out, as it was fully booked. We went back to the rental car to snooze off, and voila, 5 minutes later, someone checked out at 5.00am and our room was ready! Ryan listened to our plight, and made the best of the situation, which was over and above what he needed to do as staff. Apart from Ryan's personal touch for which we shall forever be grateful, the hotel was a lot of fun, with a wide breakfast menu of cereal, fruit, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, coffee, e.t.c. The other staff were very friendly, and it was definitely worth every penny we spent there. We were attending the International Rugby Sevens, and it was going to be tough to get a reservation at the last minute, but Country Inn & Suites came to the rescue. It is just off the highway (805) and about 15-20 minutes from downtown. They have a shuttle service. It seemed a good hotel as it was fully booked by people celebrating Valentines. It has a pool, and free high speed internet, which a lot of hotels in downtown charge for! I could go on and on, but Ryan and his staff were the best!

Large rooms, comfy beds, excellent service, restaurant & bar, - close (but not too close) to I805 plus free wireless internet! Good for business travel, assuming you have transportation. Complementary Breakfast was OK not great. Caveats - a bit noisy, but there again most hotels are! If you're looking for a place surrounded by nitelife - this isn't it. I was here on business, - quite impressed vs other Country Inns I've stayed at (i think this had used to be a Courtyard) - but family friendly too!

unclean the whole time i was there i felt like i needed to take a shower...although your place was in a great location i wish it was family friendly

I like this hotel because it has free wireless and wired highspeed internet in the each room. Also room is very clean and has a big, nice table. Something I don't like is service lady creat too much noise when she clean the neighbor room. The entrance of this hotel is not good because of the location. The breakfast is good.

Second time I've stayed here. The hotel is clean looking and looks like a 4-star. Free wireless internet and plenty of restaurants, hotel and even theater are within 10 minutes drive. Same facility used to be owned by Wyndham. Both times I've detected the strong odor what seems to be mold and/or mildew. I have a really sensitive nose to mold and a strong allergy to it. Luckily, I brought antihistimine. I suspect the mold is in the AC duct work and/or the carpet.
