Good value, considering the discounted price
We were a little unsure about staying here, considering the other guests' reviews. However, our stay at this hotel was fine. Considering the deeply discounted price that we paid, we considered this hotel to be a good value.
The hotel's physical facility seems to be in a state of transition. The exterior of the facility is being painted, so it appears that they are trying to upgrade the appearance. The interior public areas need to be reconsidered: (a) the breakfast area is far too small; (b) the exercise room was not available; and (c) the corridors are cluttered and strangely decorated.
However, our room (an upgraded queen-size suite) was fine. There was a comfortable bed, a sitting area, and a small kitchenette. The bathroom was well equipped, but needs a little upgrading. There were soap dispensers near the sink and in the shower, which were empty. Apparently they are no longer being used, with the guests being provided bar soap and travel-size shampoo. The in-room coffee service was greatly appreciated.
The staff seemed to be a mixture of positives and negatives. The staff person who handled our check-in was fantastic. The staff person who handled our departure (and the breakfast area) was great. However, there was a surly, angry man on staff who was not customer oriented, who conducted a lengthy argument with another guest in the lobby. It made us feel very uncomfortable, even though it was clear that the guest was at fault.
We will stay here again, provided the same discounted price is available.
