Going to give it another try
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/21/11
I had originally booked a king deluxe room but when I went to check in, I found out that all the king deluxe rooms had been been filled (even though I was there in the morning to confirm my reservation). They did offer me a standard king for $10 off but I had requested the bigger room to have my family over in the evening. I ended up going to a different hotel simply out of frustration. About a week later I received a hand written note in the mail along with an apology and a free nights stay. It's because of that kind of consideration that I will give this hotel another try. They obviously do care about their guests.

I wil never stay at this hotel again.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/9/11
This was the second time that my husband and I stayed at the Heartland Inn in coralville. We had a good first experience. Our second trip was a nightmare. The pool was freezing cold. I was up every two hours checking on my husband who just had surgery and was looking forward to getting a couple hours of sleep. Check out time was posted as 10 am. I woke up to a strange guy claiming to be an air conditioning repair guy, even though our air was working fine. This was at 7 am. Then a male housekeeper, opened the door and started to enter and 8 am. Didn't announce he who he was or anything. I complained to the front desk staff and all they said was it is our policy to start cleaning at 8. We left for our five hour ride home without taking showers. I just wanted out of there.

January stay at Heartland
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/1/10
We found the motel very convenient to stay at while my father was in the hospital at Iowa City. It was redone after the flood of 2008, so rooms are newly furnished. Enjoyed watching Bald Eagles fishing in Iowa River behind the motel. They offer a hospital rate and run shuttle to hospital. Cookie and the fireplace felt very comforting during a blizzardly night.

Wonderful staff - Clean and well managed Hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/2/09
We just spent the better part of a week at this fine inn just a minute or two from the University of Iowa. The Hotel was clean. The staff was beyond pleasant and helpful, and needless to say we will be staying there again. I will easily give this hotel a full 5 star review.

MOLD
By patricia, 11/8/08
I was there for a 2 day class, using one of their conference rooms. You could smell the must and mold as you walked in, and the conference room and adjoining bathroom smelled bad. We tried turning on the air conditioners to clear out the smell, but that seemed to make it worse- we opened the windows to try to get fresh air in. I wound up with an asthma attack, and 2 others in the group had mild allergic reactions.

Would recommend

I recently stayed at this hotel because my husband was unexpectdly hospitalized at the U of I hospital. I had looked up another hotel down the street, but it had outside-entry doors direct to your room and poor online reviews. Since my young son was with me, I decided on the Heartland Inn instead (newer with inside entry corridors). The staff was very polite, helpful and friendly. The lobby is beautiful. The room was very clean, and a nice room with a work desk for my laptop computer. Loved the free wireless internet. Since my husband was a hospital patient we received the hospital rate which was a huge help. Also we took advantage of the free shuttle to the hospital. It was great, dropped us right at the door (it was raining that day so we didnt have to get out in the rain) and saved us alot of walking and time finding a place to park. Because of my positive experience, we are planning on staying again, when we have return appointments at the U of I hospital. This hotel is great for anyone needing to be close to the U of I hospital.

what a dump
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/17/07
I used this place when I first moved in to Iowa City in 2003. Ok where do I start! Let me ask the prior reviewers, did we go to the same hotel? When we first walked in, the hotel smelled musty and old. we went up the elevator to our room to find a very old smelly and musty room. For some reason the water was "oily". You take a shower and still it would be sticky. Very very noisy bathroom fan. The beds were well made but the comforters had a horrible odor. We asked them to change them and they did with two fresh ones that also had a bad smell yet less repulsive! Ok, so if all of this was tolerated the grand finale was when my wife dropped her makeup behind the dresser and when reaching out to it, she found an old rotten pizza which partially explained the horrid smell ( does not explain why the sheets smelled)I DO NOT recommend this hotel to any one, not even my enemies. One good thing was that it had a shuttle to the hospital but again this always ran late and stranded me multiple times!

Nice!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/29/05
I recently stayed at the Heartland Inn during a work conference at the University of Iowa. I was very surprised with the warm cookies and soup to eat upon my arrival. I also was really excited to get up the next morning and take advantage of the full service breakfast! The location is great too! It took about 4 minutes to arrive on campus for my conference. This hotel has a lot to offer for a very affordable price. Defintely recommended!

Heartland Inn Coralville
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/7/05
Our family was on our way to IL for Thanksgiving and had an unfortunate accident and had to stay in Coralville. The staff of the Heartland Inn, especially the Manager, made our stay a welcoming experience under terrible circumstances. The "TRUE" meaning of customer service was exhibited by the Manager and her staff.
