Worst Hotel Experience!
By ,
Worst hotel experience of my life! My husband and I along with my in-laws had planned a week long trip to Maine that included two night stay at this hotel. We booked our room 3 mts in advance through a third party but made a change directly with the hotel a week in advance to arrive a day later and were assured there would be no problem. When it came time to check in we were told they had no record of the change and since they failed to change the arrival date we were charged for the room and told it was booked to someone else. The hotel was sold out due to it being one of the busiest weekends. Holly, at the front desk said since there was no record there was nothing they could do. They pretty much put us out on the curb and sent us to the Hampton Inn in the town of Bath. I asked to speak to a supervisor about a refund I was told no one was available because the booking manager was out camping and the GM was unavailable. Holly said someone can call me in five days. I was disappointed and we were inconveniencing our family because we only had one car rental for the week. My husband demanded to have the issue resolved and finally about an hour later Holly spoke to the clerk that changed our reservation back to the original date after I had made the change and was assured it would be no problem. Since they verified it was their error they did pay for our stay at the Hampton Inn. We specifically planned Daniel Stone because it was unique to the area and unfortunately that experience was taken from us. I will say that the Hampton Inn was wonderful and located on the river in the quaint town of Bath not far away. It was spotless and the service was wonderful. I would not recommend Daniel Stone, they seem to be very unorganized and lacking in customer service. They ruined what would have been a perfect trip. Had they researched the error from the beginning instead of Implying that I never called it would have saved a lot of heartache and stress. My in-laws did stay at this hotel and they stated they were not told about the amenities including the free breakfast until they asked on the second night. Also, when I we went up to see the room on the second night of the trip we saw multiple spiders on the walls and in the hallways.

Beautifully restored excellent on-site restaurant!
By ,
This was the first time my husband and I have stayed at the Captain Daniel Stone Inn since it's opening and we both agree that the owners have done an exceptional job with the renovations of this historic building. You can see it in the every detail. We stayed in a King room, it was well appointed and the beds were super comfortable. Turn-down service even included a complimentary bottle of water, a "made-in-Maine" maple candy and the relaxing sounds of the ocean.... from the bedside clock which is also a therapeutic sound machine. Aside from the fact that we had an action packed day (we took advantage of walking the Androscoggin Trail next to the Inn), it didn't take long to fall asleep in this comfortable setting. No. 10 Water Restaurant was also a great experience. We dined here both nights and were not disappointed... the Mt. Adams chicken was fantastic as well as the mushroom / crab soup. The atmosphere was comfortable and there is a large fireplace separating the bar and the dining area. The Inn is close to all major routes - our weekend in particular consisted of a scenic drive down Route 24 to Bailey Island and then North on Route 1 to take in the views of Rockland and Camden. At the end of our day, the Captain Daniel Stone Inn was a relaxing way to cap off the night with a great meal and restful sleep. We look forward to returning.

Just as I had hoped for

The inn is beautiful and relaxing. The staff was very friendly and helpful. My room was perfect and clean. The restaraunt was very elegant and the food was delicious. I really enjoyed my (lengthy) stay there and would recommend The Captain Daniel Inn to anyone. It is also located in a cental location to just about anything you are looking to do in the area.

Just one night, couldn't have been more helpful
By ,
Four military crewmembers were steered to this Inn by the Naval Base staff. A great steer. Building had tons of charm and the staff went very far above and beyond normal levels of customer service. They even drove their own cars to help us secure some lobsters on our morning of departure. I haven't seen that level of caring in forever. The location gives you about 15 great pubs and cafes to try within 3 to 5 minutes walk. Well worth the fair room rate.
