Your Dream Home In A Slice of Paradise!
By ,
Apparently the previous guests reviewed the hotel while it was still a Crowne Plaza Hotel. The hotel has since been acquired by the Swiss conglomerate, Movenpick and renovated. There is not a more perfect way to run a hotel than with Swiss & Thai hospitality! The Residences is a gated, guarded community within Movenpick Resort with its own pool. The Residence we stayed in was absolutely fantastic! It was clean, with modern decor, and had a balcony with a view of the pool and the beach. It was a 2 br 2 bath with kitchenette complete with dishes and flatware! Housekeeping replaced our dirty dishes with clean ones every day. Even the smallest details were not overlooked. At night the staff would place an orchid on the pillows with the turndown service. For scuba divers and those interested in diving, there is a EuroDivers shop on the property. They offer lessons as well as dive trips. Sign up for your class/trip and they charge it to the room. On the day of the trip a van picks you (and your gear) up in the lobby and takes you to the boat! Happy Hour at the Pool Bar was something else as well! Buy one cocktail and get another of the same free! Fortunately, what happens at the bar stays at the bar! Child-care is available on-site, you can pay by the hour or leave your child(ren) with the sitters all day. A nice service if you and that special someone want/need some time alone. Activities are offered on a daily basis. Some activities include, batik/tie dyed crafts, gel candle making, and yoga. The one thing that is the only negative about this resort, and it isn't Movenpick's fault, is that this resort and many others is approximately 1 hour south of Phuket Int'l Airport (HKT). My family hopes we will be able to return to the resort again soon! We can't wait to go back!

Just what we needed!
By ,
My family and I had a very enjoyable stay here in Feb 2006. As the hotel had recently reopened we benefitted from a special offer from the Priority Club (Crowne Plaza's frequent user programme). The hotel and grounds were beautifully laid out, very sumptious, and the reception staff extremely friendly and welcoming - from the jug of ice water given to us as my family checked in, to the daily greeting and smiles as we walked by. We stayed in the main building where we were very satisfied with the generously-sized rooms and plush fittings. The hotel benefits from several pools, a small but modern gym and close proximity to the beach and shops, but far enough away from any road-side noise. We would be happy to return there!

!!!Dont believe the brochures!!!
By ,
just come back, never again, i thought i was going to luxury and it looked like it in the brochure and the first few days. after about 5 days i regretted it, the room had never been cleaned until the third day in the second week and the smell of the sewege plant next door made me physically sick. i advise anyone with little children to keep away as my 2 year old caught a bug on the second night from the pool. i was very disappointed with this hotel as i have been to thailand before and it was so different from this experience. !!!DONT GO!!!

Great things do not last long
On the whole, the service was efficient and smooth; in particular, a staff member named Dear was very helpful, always finding solutions to questions and queries. Having traveled extensively in Asia, I would of course expect top class, uncompromising service with all sophisticated, five star hotels. To this end, I was sorely disappointed and perturbed by my experience when I was checking out after my six night stay. My initial two nights were spent in a Courtyard Villa as a package. Following this, myself and my partner moved into the main building for the remainder of our stay. I took the pair of slippers to wear from the Villa during my stay. I packed these with me when I was leaving, as I often have done before. (I presume used slippers are not passed on from guest to guest! Also based on my previous experience with other 5 or higher star hotels they even give it to their guest as a compliment since it will be discarded. Furthermore for the price you pay, I will expect all new guests should have a pair of brand new slippers) When I was checking out, the reception staff noted to me that the slippers had been taken from the Villa, and that if I wished to keep them, I would have to pay. For some reason there was no mention of the slippers the previous day when my partner (white caucasian) was paying for the bill! In addition, extra charges will be incurred if guest would like to take the slippers was not indicated anywhere. I returned the used slippers since I did not want to incur an extra cost onto my bill, which already amounted to over 41,000 baht. Sadly, a bitter taste was left in my mouth, and the word that came to mind as I left the beautiful, lavish surroundings was cheap. Early in our stay, we enjoyed the place so much we had a good detailed look at the Crowne Plaza residences by the seafront, but its funny how the smallest thing can be, in fact, a big thing. With all luxury hotels, attention to detail is the gold standard. As a new, luxury hotel at Karon Beach, perhaps the Crowne Plaza could allow the guests to take home the flimsy slippers. Besides, it would be a walking advertisement.

Excellent New Resort
By ,
Found out a just opened Crowne Plaza Hotel is offering Buy One, Get One Night Free Deal out of Singapore so I booked. What a surprise. I booked a Courtyard Villa and it was private and comfortable. Lush, tropical gardens. Very Five Star but felt relaxed. Trendy bar called Kinnaree and outstanding food. Very friendly staff. I think because it just opened there is not too many guests and not all areas of the hotel are finished yet - but the price is right and we had an outstanding time. Oh and the beds are the best I ever slept in at a hotel! You won't to wake up. The Spa called Tea Tree is refined and relaxing. Great Therapists.
