Think Twice
If we have an overnight layover at Newark Airport, I would highly recommend this place. The room is clean and they are generous about providing bottled drinking water to their guests. The pick-up service from the airport was a hit-and-missed. At times, it seemed like we waited for more than 20 minutes for the shuttle (while the other hotel shuttles had already gone by twice), at times, we just waited for less than 20 minutes. This one hispanic shuttle driver was not only not friendly, but did not help with carrying luggages. I wondered if she really wanted to be tipped! The food service at the restaurant at the hotel was definitely over-priced and the service, again, was only so-so. Overall, the service provided by the hotel was below average for this particular hilton hotel. The staff was not working hard enough to make you want to tip them. There is no sense of hospitality.
If you are planning to go to Manhattan, be ready to pay $14 each trip to take NJ Transit from Airport to Penn Station NY. There is a slightly cheaper option by taking a bus from the airport to the Penn Station Newark and take NJ Transit to Penn Station NY. But we heard that the buses are not always on time. It costs equally as much to take a cab to Penn Station Newark as well. So staying here is definitely not the cheapest and most convenient option if you are planning to go to Manhattan everyday. Just to commute between Newark and NYC, we spent over $100 per person in 4 days.
So think twice about staying here if you are planning to travel in Manhattan/NYC.
