Theft
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/29/09
My family and I checked out in the morning. After leaving the motel my ten year old son told me that he left his wallet in the room. I phoned immediately and asked the staff to retrieve the wallet. We returned within 15 minutes of departing. I walked in and was handed the wallet. All of the money was missing ($30). I expressed my concern with management that it appeared that their staff was potentially at fault. They were dismissive and insulting. Stay at your own risk.

Our Favorite!!!
By Susan, 05/31/09
One of my teenage girls is a Shriners' Hospital patient and my children and I have stayed at this inn many times. Every single time we've stayed we've been treated wonderfully by the front desk staff, housekeeping, the restaurant and lounge staff, and the management. The indoor pool and hot tub were a terrific bonus for my daughter's back and when possible we were given a room close enough that we didn't have to traipse through the hallways to get there. Anytime we go to or through St. Louis we will stay here. We appreciate the care and exceptional kindness they show us during a difficult time in our lives.

Loved it and the staff was awesome
By momma loved it, 01/22/09
I love the location and the staff was so helpful. If they did not know where something was they would find out within minutes. Even housekeeing was great room was clean and nice. I read the other reveiews and you can tell who does not travel. Anything can happen in any parking lot. We went during the holidays left our car in the parking lot and it was just fine. this is the only place me and my family will stay in St. Louis now. The staff makes it worth it.

Neighborhood is nice, at least
By Kathy, 07/02/08
This hotel was not what I expected when I make reservations at a Holiday Inn. First, we requested a refrigerator in our room because my mother need to keep insulin in it. Called when we discovered it was not in room, front desk said it was coming right up with it. Four nights later- still no refrigerator! Could not use phone in room- it had so much static on the line you had to yell to be heard and could be hear who was talking. The television remote skipped channels and you had to continually push the up channel button or down channel button to get to the channel you wanted to watch. In addition some of the channels they listed as available, we never seemed to be able to get. The light switch in the bathroom shocked both and my mother seriosly several times -and even when we reported it (every day) - it was not fixed. We ended up leaving it on for the duration of our stay for fear of being electrocuted by accident). One morning there was no hot water by 8am for people to take showers. I chose this hotel one because it was an Holiday Inn and two it was where I was attending a training - I will never make that mistake again. (While in the training, the hotel put out pitchers of water and water glasses, the water glasses were so dirty several people could not drink out of them and chose to drink a soda out of a can instead.)

Terrible
By CarolineN, 08/04/07
We are extremely displeased with the service and hotel quality during our stay at the Holiday Inn Southwest Viking Saint Louis. It all started with our first attempt to check in on Saturday. We arrived at the hotel at 3:00 p.m. We carried most of our luggage to the front desk, only to learn that we would have to wait at least another hour for our room... so, we got to repack everything into the vehicle. During the attempted check-in, I was appauled by the tone and complete lack of courtesy given by the gentleman (oaf) behind the counter. Other issues we had with the hotel... 1) Their web site lead us to believe that kids eat free... not true. The only meal we ate there happened to be Sunday brunch. We learned (upon presentaion of the tab) that kids eat free the rest of the time, perhaps. 2) Their elevator had mechanical problems and would not function on two occasions. We had to use the stairs both times. 3) On Monday, we were surprised to find a "Caution Wet Floor" sign in the elevator! Have you ever seen this before? I have stayed in hotels for 43 years and have not seen such irresponsible, hazardous conditions. 4)The rooms were not at all as pictured on their web site. Our room was rather small and very dated. 5) The hotel has posted signs in the rooms that tell guests to "Please reuse your towels" to "conserve water". Ridiculous! They are just cheap. This at a "3-Star" hotel? 6) Nothing but two bars of soap in the bathroom. No shampoo. No conditioner. No lotion. This at a "3-Star" hotel? 7) They would not grant us a late check out time. The same oaf that we delt with at check-in asked how late we needed to check out. We requested 2:00 p.m. He said he could give us until 12:00 p.m. (which is their normal check out time)! 8) The coffee maker in the room would only serve one cup of coffee and once it overflowed and made a big mess. It probably cost the hotel less than $10.00. Can you say cheap? 9) Sunday morning and Monday morning we noticed all the other guests had a copy of USA Today placed at their door. Because we were Priceline customers, I suspect we were excluded from such grand ammenities. 10) The overall condition of the hotel was very dated. It had an odor of stale, musty air. 11) The air conditioner in our room was the old window-box type. It was extremely noisy. This from a "3-Star" hotel? 12) There was no continental breakfast offered. The only breakfast dining was in their restaurant, at a significant charge. Our travels kept us in St. Louis one day longer than planned. We asked about how we would extend our stay. We were told that in order to get the same price, we would need to book the room through Priceline again. Does this make sense? Our experience was so poor, that we decided to change hotels for the last day of our visit to St. Louis. We changed to the Drury Inn in Chesterfield, MO. They gave us an early check-in of 8:00 a.m. on Monday as well as a late check-out of 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, no problem. Would you please consider changing your rating of this hotel? I really do not see how a 3-Star rating would apply to Holiday Inn Southwest Viking Saint Louis.

Poor Service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/15/07
My boss holds six meetings a year at this facility and the service continues to decline. This morning they requested juice and coffee and received neither.

I would pick some where else
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/10/07
Disappointed, given the cost its not a three star anything. I will try some where else the next time I am in St. Louis. The rooms leave something to be desired. The house cleaning doesn't understand the concept of reusing the towels.

Not sure I would return
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/21/06
The first room they gave us had a leaking AC and the carpet was soaked. The AC didn't work at all in the 2nd room. Third room was ok. We called and asked for more pillows and never received them. We had to go to the desk and get them ourselves. The breakfast buffet was good as well as the restaurant staff. Not sure I would stay here again.....
