Holiday Inn Express, Johnstown

I'm accustomed to staying in 5-star hotels, but they are few and far between anywhere near Johnstown, especially if you want to bring your pet with you. I've stayed here twice in the past couple of years and have found it clean, with comfy beds, a courteous staff and good breakfast. My only complaint is that you can still hear some noise in the hallways since the hotel was redone a couple of years ago. This would be mitigated if you could set the A/C units so the fans would stay on all night, rather than shut off entirely when the thermostat reaches the required temperature. I might be able to sleep through the noise (it's not that loud), but my dog doesn't - he's not used to hearing others in "his" house at night.

I was so nervous about staying here because I read the reviews on this site but we needed a place to stay in the area and didn't have many other options. The staff was friendly, professional and very helpful. The room was immaculate. The bed was so comfortable. The pillows were totally awesome and the linens were excellent. Our floor was almost full and we never heard another person. We enjoyed an excellent nights sleep. The shampoo and conditioner smelled yummy. We awoke to a complimentary paper and decided to check out the breakfast downstairs fully expecting to have to go out to eat but when we got downstairs there was coffee, juice, milk, yogurt, fruit, bagels, cheese omelettes, sausage, biscuits and sausage gravy, 4 kinds of cereal, hard boiled eggs and I know I'm leaving out things. We thouroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to coming back again and again!

My stay was for 4 nights at the end of Feb 07. My room was located next to the exit door and the stairs. The doors slammed open and close and the stomping up the stairs was extremely irritating. But the worst was listening to the guest above my room on the next floor. Their constent walking, running and talking left me unrested to face a long day with no sleep. And they had the balls to complain that I was making noise at 1:30 in the morning when the front desk clerk knocked on my door as if I was not trying to sleep at that time of the morning. I swear there is only a single piece of plywood between the ceiling on the and the floor above. I also had to unplug appliances to hook up my computer. Then could not get connected through wireless service. The front desk did give me a bridge but then I was disconnected with that ever few seconds. Needless to say, I got absolutely NO work done for a week. I must say the housekeeping was friendly and my room was always neat and clean. But then they were getting a good night sleep away from here. Wish I could say more good things. I am not a complainer. Guess that is why I put up with the noise for a week.
