This place is a gem!
By Rob, 9/9/11
My wife, Mother, Step-Father and I stayed here in August while I was recovering from radiation and chemo therapies. My wife and I stayed for 5 weeks while my Mom and Step-Dad stayed for only 2, each couple in a 1 bedroom suite. The prices were more than reasonable, the rooms offered every amenity including fully equipped kitchens, the location, pool, beach, staff...all wonderful! We'll be returning next August hopefully to celebrate 1 year of being cancer free! NOTE RE THE FRED FLINSTONES BED COMMENTARY...Our beds were quite comfortable...the owners replaced all beds recently. Also, they do not charge 10 dollars per person for visitors. They charge 10 dollars per visitors CAR so that paying customers are ensured a parking spot in an otherwise crowded lot (remember they are directly on the beach...visitors can park on the road at no charge.)

fred flintstone had a softer bed
By alternator man, 6/13/11
the owners are nice the price was fair. you do have to pay 10 bucks a person if you have friends visit. the beach is one of the best in the us. but the bed was so hard after 3 days my back was screaming to go home. this year we will go elsewhere. plenty of good places on this beach to choose from. if the beds didnt suck i would have made this place my every year haunt. 10 bucks per person who comes to visit kinda sucks unless they were staying the night. if they ever do that 70's show on the beach this place would work great. has that old florida feel.

What a wonderful place!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/24/11
I have been here before and loved it. This time I tried another hotel up the street (no vacancy here) The Sandalwood was Horrible! So I took a chance and walked to The Sails. They were so friendly and let us stay in one room for one night and then was going to give us another room for the 2nd night. This place is so nice and confortable. It is one of few family run hotels still left on the Gulf. They were so accommadating and pleasant that it wiped away the nastyness of the Sandalwood experience. I will continue to go to The Sails. I love everything about it.

Home away from home
By Daniel, 5/17/10
We will soon be going for our 2nd stay at Sailsresort. It is truly a home away from home. A family run facility, it is special and well cared for. On our first visit, we encountered many families that had returned year after year, for quality and service. The beach is right out your door, the accomodations are clean, and the price can't be beat.

We can't wait to go back to the SAILS RESORT!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/8/09
This resort is AMAZING! We booked a one bedroom gulf view. I couldn't believe how big the rooms were. Full kitchen, seperate living room and a huge bedroom! The ground are STUNNING! We had a early flight and arrived before the scheduled check in time. The lady at the desk, Edith, was more than happy to accommodate us and we were welcome to use the pool and ground until we could check in. She made it a priority to get our room ready and we checked in before the acctual check in time! The hospitable and responsive staff (Edith and Ted) are absolutely the nicest people you could ever meet! The AC started acting on our third day and it was replaced within the hour of my informing them. The kids love this place and the huge pool and easy access to the beach! I couldn't ask for a better vacation spot. It truly is a serene majestic place to take the family or enjoy a couples get away at. I will return many many time more!

No other place but the "Sails" .
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/9/08
Our first time at the Sails was in 1974 when Les and Magda owned it .Every year until 1981--forgot now . Then went back when Ted bought it few years back .Love the owners for their hospitality and friendliness and the well kept grounds and not letting rowdy people stay .Made many friends over the years when the children were small . There is no better place than the "Sails". Looking forward to going back to either number 5 or 10 which is the best . Mickey and family from Michigan . Will recomend to everyone .

The BEST on the beach
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/23/07
We have been going to Florida for 12+ years. We've stayed in a hotel very close to Sails and had become disappointed over the security and personnel staff. One day we walked over to Sails and booked a room for the next year. Ted, who is the nicest person showed us a room and we were so excited for the following year. We're going on 3 years at Sails and wouldn't go any place else. Ted, his children and all staff are so wonderful. We feel safe with our ten year old daughter being able to walk to our room and we can see her from ever angle. The rooms are extremely clean and if you ever need ANYTHING, Ted or anyone of his staff are there to accomodate you. Can't wait to get back to Sails and the beautiful beach. The Anderson Family :)

Fantastic Place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/25/07
There was nothing to dislike about this motel. Everything was beautiful. The grounds, the pool, the beach was gorgeous and the rooms were just fine. And Ted who is the owner just made you feel at home. I haven't booked for next year but I definitely will return to this motel. And I am a travel agent from Nova Scotia and stay at a lot of hotels and I highly recommend this place. You will not be disappointed. Please give it a try.

GREAT experience!
By Christopher, 5/16/06
I will start by saying that my appreciation for family owned businesses only grew after staying at the Sails Resort. We arrived before the scheduled check-in time (we had an early flight), and despite our room not being ready, they were more than willing to let us hang out on the property until it was. It was truly evident that the staff actually cared about its tenants, and wanted to insure that a good time was had by all. The hotel itself is very conveniently located to restaurants, the grocery stores (we had a fully equipped kitchen), etc., and of course, it is right on the beach. While not all the rooms face toward the ocean, it's simply a step out the door to see it, the sunset, the beach, etc. For the money, I was amazed at how well maintained the grounds were. It was just overall, an excellent experience. I'm certain that if my wife and I make it back to Tampa, we will be sure to stay at the Sails Resort. It was a well-maintained, ultra-affordable, family-owned hotel, and it was everything I wanted with regard to a hotel on the beach.
