The "continental breakfast" was served in the basement area with handrails only on one side of the stairwell. My handicapped partner could not avail himself of the benefit because there was nothing to steady him as he ascended back up the stairs.
The older gentleman who was behind the desk at the time of my checkout was useless. I had been told they had a vacuum cleaner with a hose behind the desk(I had used shrink bags to pack with). When I asked about it the gentleman told me he didn't know what I was talking about, he would not go look for it and told ME to go find a maid. When I finally found her, she couldn't speak English. So much for the vacuum cleaner.
At check-out they billed me $40.00 more than the price quoted to me when I made the reservation. The initial reservation document listed the quoted price but it had been crossed out and the rate was increased by the $40.00. I had to argue in order to get the rate I was told.
We had been told there would be a shuttle from the airport to the hotel. However, when I called the shuttle service they informed me that I had to make a reservation 24 hours in advance. NO ONE told me that therefore, we had no shuttle to pick us up. By this time I had become enraged which, apparently, the old man had picked up on. He called a cab for us and told me the hotel would pay for it. Just prior to my getting in the cab I asked for reassurance from the old man if the cabbie was aware of the arrangement because I did not want a hassle at the airport. The old man assured me that everything was under control. However, the cabbie DID not know about the arrangement and, had this not come out before I left the hotel, there would have been a scene at the airport. The cabbie insisted he be paid before he left the hotel parking lot. I am convinced the old man intended to mislead me and then I would have had to pay the bill and I would have no recourse.
Although the view was spectacular, the room was clean, and the accommodations acceptable, I would never, never stay there again.
