Amazing! I recommend you stay here!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/10/09
We had never been to Hollywood before, and I will admit I was a little concerned because the place looked small. But, as soon as we parked and walked in for our rooms we were welcomed and I could see it was a beautiful place. Every morning you wake up to the aroma of the flowers they have everywhere. The manager and his wife were absolutely wonderful. I almost feel I made friends. It is not a huge fancy place, but it is cozy and beautiful. Just what we needed!

We will not be returning
By jd, 3/14/09
This place has the worst customer service I have ever had at a hotel. They were rude and snappy. This was our first time visiting Hollywood and they were of no help in making our experience a nice one, I do not recommend this hotel to anyone nor will we be returning unless they properly train their staff in customer service and hospitality

Do Not Book Your Stay Here
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/13/07
I booked a room here for a Saturday night stay and they over-sold their rooms! They claimed they had "stayovers" from Friday but it was obvious that wasn't true and they simply over-sold. They acted as if they did us a favor by reserving a room for us at the Super 8 on Western Ave - which we had to pay for! What a nightmare! Shame on them...... I would not take a chance on booking a room here!

A True GEM of Old Hollywood!
By G., 7/16/07
We loved everything about this classic Hollywood Inn! The staff is friendly, courteous, and helpful with all questions and service. The courtyard is filled with luscious, tropical plants that surround the azure pool with relaxing, saline water. The location of the Downtowner couldn't be better either. Not only could we see Griffith Observatory from our rear window, but also could walk almost next door for Thai food or gourmet coffee. We found some of our favorite stars on the "Walk of Fame" as we perused the funky, local shops. For excitement, there are trendy nightclubs down the boulevard as well as the Chinese Theater, Hollywood Wax Museum, Ripley's, Musso & Franks, the Frolic Room, and many other Hollywood classics. When we felt like relaxing, we had only to return back to the Downtowner which felt like our own secret oasis. We also appreciated the selection of complimentary breakfast, coffee, and juices... plus the convenience of safe, ample parking.

Good value for comfortable stay!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/8/07
Stayed at this great little motel for a week whilst attending a conference in town. The front desk staff were very polite and always extremely helpful, even in the early hours of the morning and on checking in late. I found the room to be very comfortable, spacious and the bathroom to be pretty adequate. The walls of the bathroom and baths do need a bit of attention though - cracking and peeling. The Hollywood Walk of Fame and Sunset Boulevard are within walking distance, as is the conveniently located subway. There are not many restaurants and shops nearby, so finding food late at night may prove a mission. Overall, though, a very reasonably priced and comfortable motel.

Bitten by BedBugs
By hong, 9/7/06
We were bitten by many bedbugs when stayed in Room 6 of this hotel on Sep 1st 2006. We killed about two dozen bugs which left blood marks everywhere on the bed sheets. The hotel manager blamed these bugs were brought in by the guests who stayed in the room ealier. We don't beleive him at all because there were so many bugs. The manger was not nice at all and refused to fully refund us.

We just love it!
By Jane, 9/5/06
My boyfriend and I had stayed there for 4 days, and we had a great time. It has good location, which is closed to Hollywood attractions and only few blocks away from freeway. The service was great too. The front desk people are warm, friendly and helpful. The most important thing is the reasonable room rate. With this budget price, we were happy and satisfied with what we got.

Website pictures Deceiving
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/3/06
As we were driving down Hollywood Blvd. I kept thinking that the area would get nicer as we went along. Well it didn't, then we found the hotel! I was a bit concerned while I cautiously drove into the lot in the back of the hotel. Our first encounter was that our room was not available and that it was still being used. So they put us, 1 adult, 2 children, into 2 rooms. They were OK, but there was an outside hallway in between! I was not about to leave my kids alone. However, we checked with the front desk later and were moved again to a better room. This room was on the street level and very, very noisy. A group of guest were outside at the pool and talked very loud and kept us awake till 12PM. The neighborhood was not nice at all. Many street people walking around. No stores or restaurants that I would feel safe walking to. Was close to major attractions. Motel needs an overhaul. Very old, stale smell in rooms. Pool area needs work, old. Bkfst. OK. The managment could not of been nicer. Very helpful at all times. If it wasn't for them I would of left. Office very small and tight. No more than 6 people can fit in, and that's with the office staff. I will not stay there again. My advice would be to go with a chain motel name.

Bad Neighborhood, Old Stale Rooms
Not a nice place to stay. The neighborhood is bad, street people everywhere. The main office is locked at all times, even during the day. The rooms are old and stale. The bathrooms are crummy. The place attracts loud undesirables that kept me awake at night. The parking is also tight and hard to get into, and it's not locked at night, so you have to worry about people in the neighborhood breaking into your car. Stay away from this part of Hollywood Boulevard, even though it's close to transportation.

Hollywoods best kept secret
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/7/06
we stayed for two weeks in april and thoroughly enjoyed our trip. The service was great, the front desk people made us feel right at home, and their doughnuts for the continental breakfast were to die for. You could tell that the owner cared about his property and renovations were being done(fairly quitely)while we were there. As for location it was only 5 blocks to the pantages theater,2 blocks from Thai town and a full size grocery store about 1 block. We had the efficiency and enjoyed the ability to cook in as well as the nice restaraunts close by.Definately will stay there again. Thanks
