The best view of the tram.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/16/06
Location, location, location. And, a great staff to make one feel at home in a hotel setting. Plus, good food and nicely appointed rooms. The bar is cozy and the beds are great. A very nice place for native Californians.

nice but hot and stuffy
By SeanM, 09/20/06
1st of all, location is awesome... food is awesome, dinner at plump jack was just great... room was very nice, roomy and clean... but there is no air conditioning and the fans just blow hot air around the room. I would never recommend someone to stay there during non-winter periods and I would never stay there until they get air conditioning in rooms.

Fantastic location; great staff
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/17/05
We stayed at Plump Jack Squaw Valley Inn for three days in July. There's no AC, so the room was a bit warm for our comfort level, although there was a fan in the room to provide air movement. This location is absolutely gorgeous and right across the street from the main "town center" area with coffee shops, restaurants, and boutiques. The room was quite comfortable and included a great breakfast buffet each morning. Also enjoyed the "NY Times" review left at our door each morning (a brief summary of the main stories of the day plus the famous crossword puzzle). Staff was friendly and provided good hiking information. I would definitely stay here again.

Plumpjack
By Cynthia Maller, 09/09/04
These guys have the lock on prime real estate in Squaw Valley. No one is closer to the mountain. This is luxury! The rooms are beautfully appointed, and the restaurant is world-class. breakfast can get really crowded during holidays and weekends, because many transient skiers come in to eat. The staff was a bit snooty to me, but the person I dealt with was basically a teenager and I think he just didn't know about customer service. There was a wedding at the hotel the night I was there, and it was REALLY noisy, so if you need sleep, you may want to check into any events that are happening while you're there. The shopping is great...both the little Plumpjack Sport in the hotel and the shops in the new village across the parking lot. This is still a family-owned hotel, so you can count on a very uncorporate environment. With the onsite restaraunt as well as the ones next door in the village (The owners of Plumpjack also own The Balboa Cafe and the sporting goods store), you really don't have to drive into "town" to eat if you don't want to...which is great when the storms are dumping. There is a Starbucks next door, too. ;-)
