Beautiful Hotel, Wonderful Staff
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/27/11
We stayed at the Grand Imperial, finding it charming and cozy. Our room was large, decorated to the historic best, and had all the amenities we could have asked for. It was like stepping back in time. We enjoyed it tremendously. The history of the hotel was enjoyable, and the restraunt downstairs was also fabulous. We enjoyed the music played on the piano as we ate, and the prices were reasonable.

Do not ruin your trip by staying at the Imperial.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/7/10
This used to be a great place to stay. However, the current management is obviously inexperienced and immature. The folks who are there to "serve" you are so obviously indifferent and unwilling to be of assistance that I will never stay there again. Too bad, I have stayed at this hotel many times in the last 20 years. Never again. The "owner" as she calls herself is arrogant and rude. She is also barely 20 years old and claims she has owned the hotel for 17 years. If she had the hotel would be out of business by now. There are many nice places in Silverton. It is a beautiful place. Most of the people are great. Go, enjoy, just do not ruin your vacation by staying at the Grand Imperial.

Great Place
By Carlee, 3/27/08
Our room was large and comfortable. My wife and I searched the old hotel, all the doors were open. The majority of the rooms were large and spacious. All the rooms were decorated differently. Some had better outside views than others. This is an old hotel. The floors did creak and the bathrooms were small but the antiques and the ambiance were well worth it. We ate at the hotel restaurant and had a drink at the bar. Best burger I've had in a long time! The location was phenomenal. Right in the middle of town. You couldn't ask for any better. The hotel staff and owners were very courteous and friendly. I was amazed because we found out the hotel and restaurant was built back in 1882 and everything was original including the ceiling tiles. It is still heated by coal! It's like going back in time. It's definately not your holiday inn but well worth the stay!

escape from the ordinary
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/11/06
We spend one wonderful night here on our escape from our day to day jobs. Wish that we had more time here to explore the history... so charming and friendly. The stories about the mining era are haunting. Step back in time at this Hotel.

The Grand Imperial
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/18/04
We went on vacation and stayed in Durango, Ouray and Silverton. After getting to the Grand Imperial in Silverton we had wished we wouldn't have stayed anywhere else. The Grand is so charming, the people there are awesome and the food is great. They just seem to have that southern hospitality. We went back two years later and stayed there for our whole vacation. We loved it. You won't regret staying there, but be careful this place is addicting and you will want to keep going back.
