Best Time
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/1/11
Love the hotel. It was very nice, location was great, provided all of the tours we wanted, close location to food. We had the greatest time. Took a helicopter tour, it was great. Landed at Jurassic Park waterfall, pilot was exceptional. Didn't really care about the cost of the trip, with airline, hotel, rental car, a great bargain.

EXTREMELY POOR SERVICE and BAD ATTITUDE
By Cary Resident, 9/15/10
Beautiful Hotel but EXTREMELY POOR SERVICE and BAD ATTITUDE at Reception/Checkin Desk for a 4 Start Resort. The service would compare to some cheap Econolodge type motel. I booked my vacation through Priceline and got Marriott Resort. When it comes to Hotels, the main service is at the time of checking and daily room-service. I got to the resort at 12pm and did not get a room until 4pm and they refused to assign me one earlier. Why? Because the rep looked at me as a Priceline/Online customer, not Marriott customer. I was automatically downgraded to a standard view room and they refused to change it or pay extra $100/day. Why? Because the rep looked at me as a Priceline customer, not Marriott customer. I was given the floor on the lowest floor on the property and facing the backyard noisy, ugly machinery sdirectly outside my window. The room was pretty much at the basement level. I requested something with a better view or higher floor and was denied again. Why? Because the rep still looked at me as a Priceline/Online Website customer, not Marriott customer. I was with an infant and my wife so requested a King size bed but was given 2 double beds instead. Once again the rep refused my request or asked to pay extra $100/day. When I book and pay for a room in a 4 star resort of a reputed chain like Marriott, I expect quality service. The room was not givin to be as charity for the rep to show an attitude and behave like I am being punished for booking the room from a site other than Marriott. How do you define a Quality Service, that too for a 4 start Marriott Resort? The property was beautiful but the attitude of the staff and service experience has been extremely dissapointing and I will be filing a BBB complaint against them sometime soon.

Beautiful place but service was disappointing
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/11/10
This hotel was disappointing for a number of reasons. I did not get the room that I booked (instead got a room overlooking the noisy construction site) and had to request a room change, which the hotel did agree to. The hotel staff ranged from aloof to downright rude. I was roundly scolded by pool staff, for example, for not knowing the exact protocol for turning in towels. The room I ended up with had a beautiful view, and the restaurant staff and spa staff were all very nice. I would definitely recommend Kauai but have a lukewarm recommendation for this hotel.

Very disappointed
By ACTOR, 10/15/09
We were very disappointed in our stay at the Marriott, it was not worth the money. It took forever to get into a room. And then we were not given the room with a view we were promised. The construction sounds were very annoying. The food on property was horrible. The staff was rude. Don't stay here, you will regret the $ you pre-paid to stay at this Marriott. I am a rewards member. And the way this trip went I am thinking of switching to another major hotel chain. As far as Kauaii goes, it is a very beautiful island. The hotel did not offer tansportation to the various activities offered on the island so a rental car is a must. Definietly rent a convertible. It's the best way to see the island. Make sure to plan your activities ahead of time becasue they do sell out. Try to book the activities direct as the hotel charges a hefty fee.

island perfection
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/9/09
The location is perfect and close to stores, fast food places and tours. Concierge service was excellent. Just about anywhere you eat in the hotel or nearby has ocean views. Very relaxing atmosphere for couples or families. We are looking forward to going back with the rest of the family.

to many problems at the Kauai Marriott
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/28/08
We loved the pool at the Marriott and that it has a Duke's next door, whose staff couldn't be friendlier. It also has a convenient location if you are okay with being near the airport. What we don't like is that they seem to continually have problems which includes the parking lot that had a sink hole and took years to fix, the flooding that affected the first floor rooms near the pool, which may be what contributes to the smell and the planned power outages that they know about and don't notify their guests of prior to arrival. Instead they slip a note under your door that the power will be out for 3 nights for approximately 4 hours each night (1/2 the time you are in the room). This of course means no air conditioning or lighting, although they do have emergency lights. The service side by management is sorely lacking and our perception is that they aren't really interested in repeat business. Kauai is a beautiful island but the Marriott is no longer our choice for a hotel. We actually switched hotels and went to the Hyatt and it was beautiful.

Go every other year and always enjoy it.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/5/08
We go to Kauai every 2 years and stay at the Marriott Kauai Beach Club and love it. The pool is great, the beach and ocean views are great, and the grounds are great. The golf course next door, the Kauai Lagoons, has beautiful views of the ocean and great service. I find the whole of Kauai to be more relaxed than Oahu or Maui. And I can really unwind at the Kauai Marriott. We usually spend a couple whole days of our week there just lounging by the pool.

Underwhelmed...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/27/08
We chose the Marriot because of friends' recommendations and the fact that we splurged on a hotel in Maui. For what the Marriot costs, it was not a nice hotel. The main lobby and common areas are a bit gaudy and over the top--HUGE pillars & planters & a coi pond. The rooms were outdated and smelled musty. We paid over $300/night and were very disappointed. I wouldn't recommend the Marriot to fellow honeymooners.
