The Capes Hotel, Virginia Beach

This place is awesome! My boyfriend and I attended for a many two day spring break vacation and we loved it! We had an oceanfront Queen Whirlpool room! The view of the ocean was awesome...very romantic! Customer service is very nice and accommodating! We can't wait to return!!

We stayed here with our 1 year old daughter. Everything was perfect. We had more than enough room for her pack and play, the counter/sink/micro/fridge area was so helpful, and the balcony was great to sit out on once she fell asleep! There was not one thing we would have changed!

We stayed at the Capes from 8/15 to 8/19 and had a great time. The location was perfect dead center of Atlantic ave at 20th st. Immediate check-in and found our rooms very clean. Staff was courteous and accommodating. Only about 8 rooms per floor, so it's tiny but very very nice. They have a very small cafe, but was reasonably priced, and had a great breakfast, which you can sit outside on the Boardwalk to dine. The indoor pool was clean and usable. The beds were a little soft, and the bathroom where the shower and toilet were was small, but the vanity was outside that and roomy. Sink, refridge, coffee maker, and microwave made the stay even more convenient. Had a whirlpool tub that worked well and was clean, very enjoyable. We will stay here again.

The only good part of this hotel is the location. Hotel staff is rude and unwelcoming, don't even try to ask them for anything.....It's unavailable. The cleaning staff (1 person) takes forever to clean your room, although she is nice, but barely speaks english. They have a small lot and one next door, but it is an act of GOD to be able to park there....Have to go across the street, behind a bldg with no monitoring and leave vehicle there. But make sure your parking pass is visible or they will tow! This place is a joke! Not worth the money.....2 rooms @143.00 each. The bathroom by the way is ridiculous, cant close the door if you are on the toilet barely.....so small! SHOP AROUND!!!!!!!

We stayed in one of their queen jacuzzi rooms and loved it! What a value for the money. Its not a large chain but rather a family owned place. It was like staying with family. The location is perfect - right in the middle of everything. We enjoyed fireworks from the privacy of our balcony. The small diner by the pool has a wonderful full breakfast - less than $10 for two. Can't wait to go back and try one of their King Suites! Highly recommend!

The ladies at the desk were very rude. Room was not clean, towels were paper thin you may as well us paper towels. Pool was tiny and filthy. For the price it is not worth it.

Based on the reviews @ yahoo travel, we decided that The Capes was a perfect place for our family to stay for our October 2-day Getaway! The room was very clean, the staff was very friendly & helpful, everything was perfect including our weather! It was so great to be actually able to afford an Oceanfront room where in the morning you could watch the sunrise & see the dolphins!!! At night you could watch the sun setting & still feel completely safe & comfortable! We have small kids so the room having it's own refrigerator & sink with counter space & cabinets was excellent! We had great family time here at The Capes!

We found The Capes by accident, while traveling up the coast but what a find. My husband and I stayed for 2 nights in mid August and loved it. We really wish we had a week so to stay. Very quiet, relaxing, located right in the middle of the beach with all sorts of entertainment across the street like restaurants, music, and stores. We loved the thoughtful decor in our room which was truly eclectic but you could tell it was put together with care. Lots of special details through out the hotel. The kitchenette is set up with the standard items fridge, micro, coffee maker, cups. Also, there's an excellent oceanfront view and a relaxing balcony. Everything was clean, clean, clean. Very cool! It's refreshing to visit a place that trusts its guests to be sophisticated and considerate of others. A decidedly "uncorporate" environment located in the middle of the beach among all the big chains/big box hotels! The owners/operators should be proud of the little paradise they've set up. We will return ASAP!

Old squeaky beds, towels thin as paper (may be some paper towel are thicker and will feel better on your body), lousy management attitude of "don' like it check out or don't stay here"
