We will not be going back

Stayed over Memorial Day weekend 2010 and thought it would be a great place. The outside of the building looked decent but older and lobby was pretty nice. Front desk girl was very freindly. Then we checked in.....The hallway smelled like mildew and so did the room. At first we thought the carpet had not been vaccuumed but upon further inspection, it seemed to be the texturized paint that had been used to paint the walls (I think anyway). The bathroom tiles are very slick and white and had foot prints from, I guess, the housekeeper (I hope). The sign and website said hot breakfast but I do not really consider waffles, bagels, and english muffins a "hot breakfast". Talk about a techinicality! The lady working the breakfast bar was very freindly but was a little slow at filling what needed to be filled.
The walls are paper thin or not insulated and my wife and kids could hear the people next to us having sex. LOUDLY! Try explaining that to a 8 and 11 year old. They also only left two bath towels, no wash cloths, and no soap in the room. My son's socks, after walking on the carpet for about 20 minutes were filthy. Does this place ever clean the carpets professionally. Im assuming not because the carpet was torn and comming apart at the seam.
The AC unit looked older than I am (44) and it leaked really bad onto the carpet, which, may explain the mildew smell in the room.
Someone broke the door handle off the stairwell door causing it to be locked. That's a safety hazard. The male desk clerk, who I thought was the manager but was not, was very friendly and took care of getting the door opened very fast.
Lastly, the key macine at the desk broke and we had to be let in out room every time we had to leave the room. The male front desk clerk working said he was trying to fix it but he would probably not be able to. He did offer to move us to another room that he could make a key for and was very appologetic. We decided to stay in the room because we did not want to move all of our things. I felt sorry for him and the woman working over night. they had to run all over the hotel letting people into their rooms. What kind of management doesn't return their employees phone calls to try and fix, what I would consider, a pretty vital important funtion of a hotel?
For $79.99 plus tax I would have thought the rooms and hotel would be a lot nicer. I will admit that it is a lot nicer that the Motel 6 next door but next time, we will find a better place to stay.
Very disappointed.
