We will not be going back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/1/10
Stayed over Memorial Day weekend 2010 and thought it would be a great place. The outside of the building looked decent but older and lobby was pretty nice. Front desk girl was very freindly. Then we checked in.....The hallway smelled like mildew and so did the room. At first we thought the carpet had not been vaccuumed but upon further inspection, it seemed to be the texturized paint that had been used to paint the walls (I think anyway). The bathroom tiles are very slick and white and had foot prints from, I guess, the housekeeper (I hope). The sign and website said hot breakfast but I do not really consider waffles, bagels, and english muffins a "hot breakfast". Talk about a techinicality! The lady working the breakfast bar was very freindly but was a little slow at filling what needed to be filled. The walls are paper thin or not insulated and my wife and kids could hear the people next to us having sex. LOUDLY! Try explaining that to a 8 and 11 year old. They also only left two bath towels, no wash cloths, and no soap in the room. My son's socks, after walking on the carpet for about 20 minutes were filthy. Does this place ever clean the carpets professionally. Im assuming not because the carpet was torn and comming apart at the seam. The AC unit looked older than I am (44) and it leaked really bad onto the carpet, which, may explain the mildew smell in the room. Someone broke the door handle off the stairwell door causing it to be locked. That's a safety hazard. The male desk clerk, who I thought was the manager but was not, was very friendly and took care of getting the door opened very fast. Lastly, the key macine at the desk broke and we had to be let in out room every time we had to leave the room. The male front desk clerk working said he was trying to fix it but he would probably not be able to. He did offer to move us to another room that he could make a key for and was very appologetic. We decided to stay in the room because we did not want to move all of our things. I felt sorry for him and the woman working over night. they had to run all over the hotel letting people into their rooms. What kind of management doesn't return their employees phone calls to try and fix, what I would consider, a pretty vital important funtion of a hotel? For $79.99 plus tax I would have thought the rooms and hotel would be a lot nicer. I will admit that it is a lot nicer that the Motel 6 next door but next time, we will find a better place to stay. Very disappointed.

A very good value. We will return.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/3/09
The hotal is adjacent to modern casino/hotel complexes (4 Seasons), and also shuttered warehouse-type buildings. Some comments about seedy-type area are exaggerated. You can safely walk from your hotel, to the casinos, or Laclede's Landing, which is an easy walk. My 9-year old walked with me from the hotel to the Landing for lunch, then to the Gateway Arch, and on to Busch Stadium. After the game, we took the MetroLink back to Laclede's Landing, and walked to the hotel after dark. No problem. It's very near I-70 for exploring the rest of the city. The room was very clean. I was so delighted with my sleep, even with my bad back. I called the hotel upon my return to Kansas City, and asked Bernard for the manufacturer of the mattress (he left the office, went to my exact room, and provided me with the information I needed). The hotel dounld definitely use a facelift. Howver, it's a terrific value in the heart of the entertainment district. I've stayed at expensive places and have let feeling cheated. I was on a budget this trip, and was delighted and surprised.

A good for what its worth-I will come back
By Deep F, 5/15/09
I felt this hotel served the purpose that suited me. I am a single male and I was in town on a music show convention and I just wanted to spend time away from the host hotel. I did not find this hotel in no way offensive but rather cozy and quiet near the bluff of a great view of a beautiful situated city of St. Louis.

WONDERFUL FOR BUDGET
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/13/09
My boyfriend and i stayed here for one night in a king bed non-smoking room. We were very suprised what we got for our money. It was pleasant, no smell, no stains, ppl were polite.yes there was a few chips in the shower tub but that wasnt very important. Slept well, even though we had the room on the right in front of the elevator. we didn't get much of a view but could still see part of the river.Overall very pleased and will stay again.

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/15/09
I recently stayed at this location. I must say I was very surprised by the quality of the room as well as the staff. They were very polite and friendly when I checked in. The room was very clean and comfortable. I would definatly stay at the same place when I come back in town.

The worst Place to every stay in St. Louis
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/18/08
Well all i can say is the front desk ppl are some aweful rude ppl..My daughter is staying there as i speak..but as of in the morning she is leaveing to go stay at another motel across town. I called to arrange the dates and times for her to stay so she would be there for her conference from July 16th until 20th. Well when she arrived the air conditioner in the room was not working the bath room door would jam when you closed it..she would have to push it with her body to open it...the ceiling had something splattered all over it...she turned down her covers on her bed and the pillow cases were aweful nasty..they said they had maid service..well her room has never been cleaned since she got there...so i called and got her last nights cancelled i was treated very rudely but we getting her out in the morning and i would tell you and i've not been there that i would never in my life send anyone to this place...it's just down right nasty i have seen pictures sent to me and it's aweful...if you wanna stay in St. Louis in peace and clean rooms...DO NOT STAY HERE...

One of the worst we ever stayed in!
By Lynette, 7/8/08
This motel is a disgrace to the "Econolodge" name. The only good thing about this was the location, and even that wasn't great We stayed 5 nights. Came in to see Cardinals and Cubs game and 4th of July celebration. Sink was plugged in bathroom 1st. night. They only changed the sheets 1 night because we asked them to. They never vacuumed room, empted ashtrays or moped floor. Came in room without knocking. Elevator smelled like pee. Only nice person working there was a man named Bernard. Never again.....Steve & Lynette Las Vegas, NV

Awful place. Bed bugs. Noisy.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/15/08
I was bitten by bed bugs 2 nights I was staying there (room 320). The people at the front desk said that there are not aware of the problem which is a lie. Also there big holes under the doors so it's hard to sleep in the vicinity of a highway. I won't come there ever again.

It was okay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/22/08
We booked this place based on the price and location. Then I read the reviews and almost cancelled my reservation. I'm glad I didn't. It isn't the Hilton by any means, but if you need a place to lay your head after a night on the Landing it's perfect. The staff seemed nice, room was clean, and I can't judge on noise because I was there on one of the coldest nights of the year so not many people were hanging around. Couldn't get a solid wi-fi signal for my laptop, but I wasn't there long enough to care.
