Thomsonite Beach Inn and Suites, Lutsen

We spent a few days honeymoon at Thomsonite Beach and it was wonderful in so many ways. The hosts were most responsive and generous in answering my many questions via email beforehand. Our room had special, homey touches which made our stay more pleasant; like a flashlight to use to go down to the shore, ceramic mugs for coffee in our room, a cozy throw for cool evenings, great books on local flora and fauna, trails and local stories in our room as well as available in the office. Our room was comfortable, but our bed that unit, at least, was VERY FIRM. Great view from our bedroom and the alcove with a table, a balcony with chairs also had a view. They have a very nice, grassy common area at the shore with Weber grills, picnic tables, Adirondack chairs and a fire pit with log benches--firewood and kindling all set up for making fires. We felt quite at home and appreciated the good, unobtrusive housekeeping service. With only 10 units or so, it was peaceful with little traffic on the premises. Best place we have stayed yet! We definitely plan to return. It was quite nice and convenient to be just 5 minutes away from Grand Marais without sacrificing our solitude and the wilderness feeling.
