Rain made our day
By David, 4/22/12
This was our second stay in the Cottage at the Eleven Gables. Previously, we were in the room with a lake view and King Suite, which was a two-room suite with a king bed. The cottage was very private and had two rooms, since we brought our nuffie and golden along this time. With refrigerator and microwave, there was nothing more we needed to snuggle buy the fire for the two rainy days we stayed. The innkeepers, Frank and Claire, are a delightful couple who really seem to put great effort in ensuring the comfort and satisfaction of their guest. They showed us were the lake path begins in front of the property so we could walk the dogs in the morning, and told us about the Miracle wall down the path. It is well worth the trip, even if the weather is cold. We took our cure for the dogs and went along with the rain. The inn is a sort distance to the main shopping and dining areas of downtown Lake Geneva while being secluded away from traffic noise. There are no immediate buildings or businesses surrounding the cottage which adds to the peacefulness as well. The cottage isn't the "poshest" place we stayed, in compared to the suites at the inn. It doesn't need to be. It is exactly what we look for: clean, comfortable accommodations at a reasonable rate. It will be our "go to" place when we plan a trip to Wisconsin, and we'll definitely be back

We connected
By Andy, 3/19/12
I stayed at this inn a little while ago. I was amazed at how nice the place really is. It's quaint and quiet. There was a fireplace in my room. The location is perfect - within short walking distance to all of the main attractions in town. And, the hotel has free parking. What a great place to get away from it all. They serve a small breakfast to get your day started on a good note. And the beds are so comfortable you don't want to get up. My dog enjoyed a romp on the lake shore path and was made quite welcome here. Try it once. You will look for excuses to travel to Lake Geneva just so you can stay here. If you are looking for a private, quiet place to reconnect for a night or two you will enjoy your stay here. The house is classic lake house. Thanks! See ya soon!

Suprisingly comfy
By Mago, 2/21/12
My boyfriend and I are constantly busy with work and trying to keep up with a 3 year old Boston Terrier and a 4 year old little boy! We very seldom get to do anything relaxing! So when I found the Eleven Gables online I decided to surprise my boyfriend with a weekend getaway! We couldn't have asked for a better retreat! The house was absolutely majestic and our room was beautiful! It felt like we were staying over at a family member's house not a Bed and Breakfast. Everything was warm and inviting. In fact we were so relaxed when we got there that we sat down on the bed and actually fell asleep right away! We missed the wine and cheese tasting but really couldn't complain that the bed was so comfy! Our hosts Cindy and EB were so sweet and you can tell that they love what they do. And they really know dogs, it turns out they also found their dogs on Petfinder. They really want you to enjoy yourself and will do anything that they can to make you feel at home! If you are looking for a wonderful, relaxing place to get away from it all...even if it's just for a night or two...look no further! You've found it right here!

On the Path
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/28/11
I need to start off by saying that the Gabe has changed hands again, so the "new" owners mentioned in earlier reviews have sold the property to NEW "new' owners, Bruce and Frank, who are doing a superlative job of bringing The Gabe back to life. This 8 room guest house is located in a quiet, residential neighborhood - Bay View - so is very quiet and private. In front of the Inn is the lakefhore path we hered so much about. The Homes are huge. I guess the rich in Lake Geneva are not suffering. The pier stiill has great swimming the lake water was about 88 F. not like Lake Michigan in the summer. There are restaurants, food stores, shopping and entertainment a 5 minute walk away. Free WiFi in our room. My room was impeccably clean. The bed was comfortable, and there is a friendly atmosphere that permeates the hotel, from the owners to the cleaning and maintenance staff. I plan to stay at the Eleven Gables again. Friendly, personable staff and a calm, clean environment make it one of the better hidden treasures of the Lake Geneva Area.

Peaceful place to chill
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/9/11
We have found our refuge when we get out of the city! JR found this hotel last year on the internet, and it was I who was skeptical about it, seeing as that it wasn’t a hotel I’ve heard of before. Man, was I wrong! Clean hotel, courteous and friendly staff, and centrally located. I even liked the décor. The best part of their location was that we didn’t have to drive to get good food. This is our third stay here and it was quaint and charming as usual. The newly decorated sunrise room was except ally quit for a inn. The continental breakfast was as usual blueberry pancakes with whipped cream and jasmine tea coffee. The location was on Lake Geneva three blocks from downtown and within walking distance of Starbucks. Annabelle and Sally were charming and very well informed for local places to go. If you stay here we would recommend asking about the discount coupons for area attractions and boat rides the owners have deals. The one thing it lacks is room or maid service, but we could get all the fresh towels we needed at the front desk. We will be returning in September when the crowds are gone. A dog gone good deal all-around. Very fast free internet service. One more huge plus was the owner's love dogs. Room Tip: Go during the week in the summer See more room tips

The Bates Motel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/16/11
We stayed at this B&B because it was dog-friendly and it was available the for the dates we wanted. On the positive side, the location was great, it's quiet and it was reasonably priced for a B&B. However, the inn is rundown. The furniture has probably not been changed in decades and has no charm. We had a king-size bed in our room which would have been nice if the mattress had been replaced anytime within the past 20 years. It was old and lumpy. There was a divan that you could not even sit on, it was so decrepit. The landscaping was overgrown and the entire property was seedy. B&B's generally pride themselves on their breakfast. Here breakfast was almost non-existent. On our last day we were served turkey croissants that tasted like they came out of the freezer. No juice. No toast. No sweet-roles. Ever. We skipped it and went out for breakfast. The rooms are not cleaned during your stay. Would NEVER stay there again.

No Yahoos are allowed (no pun)
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/30/11
My wife and I went here over spring break with our 18 month year old daughter and pug Buggey. Despite the cold rainy weather it was a must needed getaway. The room had it's own private courtyard and great large bed for the four of us. The property was above average, nothing special, being a small establishment the inn was very quiet and the room was clean with a great shower and very fast internet for watching Netflix (we had our own subscription). The best part was the owner is very selective about whom he allows to stay at the inn and the fact that they do not allow local trouble makers in the property was a plus. We have stayed at larger hotels and been kept awake by other yahoos. The resident dog EB is a toy poodle that enjoyed playing with Buggey during breakfast. Will be telling our friends about the inn and hope to return sometime it is warmer

No Frills No Hype
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/12/11
Over spring break my wife and I were trying to find a small inn which would accept both our two year old and small dog, this is not an easy combination in Lake Geneva. This is not a place for high frills, but the Inn has a great deal of character and the owners where great. The room was very homey and clean. Was good deal for our budget. The resident dog, EB, is a toy poodle who got along well with our pug and daughter. Location was great on the lake path and close to downtown. Room has a small fridge which came in handy for our daughter.

A Little Yapper
By Chris Fiore, 3/10/11
Delightful house; immaculate & comfy rooms. Breakfast was delicious. Wish I could have spent more time on the screen porch looking over the garden & listening to the birds. The dog friendly part was the best, the owners dog, a red dachshund, was a little talkative but real friendly. The owner really loves dogs. If you are going to stay in Lake Geneva during the summer driving is real pain congested mess, best to walk. The owner, Sadie, was very knowledgeable of the area and helped us find inexpensive adventures in the area. There is a path that goes all the way around the lake. A good way to get some hiking in and see the Mc mansions up close and personal. As they say the best things in life are free.‎

Unique and non-corperate
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/20/11
Totally enjoyed our stay at the Gabe. Staff was exceptionally helpful, friendly, knowledgeable and genuinely interested in our well-being. Always willing to go well out of their way to make our stay unique and memorable --- from making last-minute reservations for us to scooter down to the docks to return our left-behind sunglasses. Grounds and rooms are delightfully Midwestern, comfortable, and clean. Especially nice is their 'green' consciousness and their 'enjoy life' philosophy. Very conveniently located and within easy walking distance of most points of interest. Can't wait to go back and will highly recommend to those who want a refreshingly different (and non-corporate) hotel experience.
