The Country Inn, Sagle

My boyfriend and I stayed here for our ski vacation at Schweitzer. We live near Seattle, WA and our room for the week cost us less than the gas it took to get there! Each morning when it snowed the staff shoveled the walk and parking lot AND brushed the snow off my car. They were very helpful and accomodating. Someone came in to clean our room for us daily whether we asked or not - it was SO nice to come "home" to a clean room everyday! If you're traveling to enjoy skiing I highly recommend you also check out the Conocco station at the base of the mountain for night skiing lift tickets. They were only $8! Between Country Inn and the discounted lift tickets my boyfriend and I had the BEST vacation imaginable for a more than reasonable price. TIP: Check the website constantly for new prices. We originally booked a single queen room. Upon checking back the prices were lowered and we were able to get a single king room for a lower price than our original booking of a smaller room. If you're looking for during the summer, it's SUPER close to Silverwood theme park.

I stayed there for a month while on business and have never met better folks. Very ready to help and make my stay as comfortable as it could be...Clean rooms and nice beds! Great water pressure and one of the best features was privacy..Thank you!

My daughter and I stayed at the Country Inn on April 14th on our way to Canada. The room was a double queen with fresh paint, new carpet and new beds. The bathroom was very clean as was the entire premises. We had a great nights rest at an inexpensive price. The new management team was very friendly and the service was excellent.

I needed a place to stay while working in Sandpoint & had to move from the 1st place I stayed at because I wasn't happy with the housekeeping. I checked out all the hotels in the area & The Country Inn was the most affordable with the best housekeeping. I stayed about 4 months & the only issue I had was the hanging area for my clothes came down (probably from all the stuff I had piled on it). I liked that they have a laundry facility. I'm staying there again when I'm in town this week.

Dislikes:Very close to noisy highway, a/c unit not cooling, stench of cigarette odors in 'non-smoking'room, small room, old bed, dirt parking w/dust, no coffee, far from decent food. Liked: getting away. This was the worst place I have ever stayed at. The favorable reviews are suspect to me.

The other reviews here must be fake. Where do I begin? I have traveled extensively and this is the worst place I’ve ever stayed. The chain lock on the door was busted off, and I was flabbergasted to discover the next day that there was no lock on the window! When I went to the office to ask them to fix this, their remedy was to hand me a dowel rod to drop into the windowsill. Upon closer inspection, I saw that ALL the windows were like this. The light fixture in the bathroom is hanging from the ceiling by two wires - a fire waiting to happen. The water heater is actually INSIDE the room, concealed by a thin sheet of paneling. Our “non-smoking” room stank of stale cigarettes AND had cigarette burn holes in the sheets! I immediately bought 2 air fresheners, but it didn’t help. The towels and the blankets also had holes in them. The room is dark and the sofa had huge stains that would not want to sit on. There are actually people living at this motel and there is a rundown trailer park on the grounds as well. That being said, we had no problems with anyone, just a vaguely creepy feeling about our surroundings. The air-conditioning cools well, but there is no thermostat, so if you fall asleep it will run all night. The bed is hard and very uncomfortable, probably original bed from when the motel opened (40 years?). It had a coin-operated vibrating machine! The motel marquee said there was a hot tub, but my hubby combed the grounds and did not see one anywhere. No one works the front desk; you have to ring a bell for someone to come talk to you. To check out we had to find the maid and give her our key. We woke one morning to find a guy repainting the yellow lines in the parking lot, including the ones one either side of our Chrysler 300 as it was parked! Unbelievable. This place is right on Hwy 95, which is as busy as a freeway. Surprisingly this was not a noise problem for sleeping. I would NEVER recommend this place for single women or families with children; it's just too scary security-wise. It’s good for truckers or a guy looking for a place to stay for ONE night in a pinch. If I were pressed to come up with anything positive to say, it would be the following: 1. The bathrooms were clean. They are completely dilapidated, with chrome worn off the fixtures and yellowing plastic tub walls, but they were clean, and the water pressure in the shower was very good. 2. They have HBO. 3. The location, which is just on the other side of the long bridge leaving Sandpoint, so you are only 2 miles from main street Sandpoint. 4. It's cheap. They money we saved paid for our meals everyday; but would I do it again? Hell no. Most disturbing are the misleading reviews. I was led to believe the woman who opened this place used to work at the Bellagio hotel or somewhere like that, and she is now running a small motel with the same standards. BS! This place sucks. We stayed 6 nights only because the sign at the front desk says "No refunds for any reason". Wow, that says it all. For what its worth, we looked at the Meandering Moose motel which was actually in Sandpoint. It’s another budget motel, but it was very cute, light and airy, smelled wonderfully clean, and had no “scary” feeling to it. The friendly owner at the desk offered me a cold soda and even took me to see a room. Wow, what a difference. It was small, but had everything we needed. For $14 more per night, it was well worth it. BTW, Sandpoint was BEAUTIFUL. Enjoy your time in Idaho, I hope this review helps.

I thought the staff was friendly & helpful. My room was so clean & affordable. I love that they have wireless internet & Will definitely stay there again.

While looking for permanent residence in the area, I stayed at the Country Inn for roughly 2 weeks in mid-June of 2005. The owners gladly gave me an affordable weekly rate. Another plus is the inn allows pets, for a small fee. The rooms vary in size. Mine had one double bed. It was very small, but clean and comfortable. And include a microwave and small refrigerator. The owners were always friendly and made me feel welcome. I would recommend the Country Inn to anyone passing through or visiting the area.
