HEAVEN ON EARTH
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/27/10
Just returned from 9 days at Captain Morgans. It was the most perfectly wonderful experience on our lives. Excellant hospitality, safet, honest, attmosphere and convenience for tours, information, experiences. The location couldn't be better, gorgeous/quality decor and clean. We were treated like royalty. Free internet, daily tours right from their dock for convenience and priced right! Very good food! Access to bikes, kayaks, water taxis, walking trails and two pools. What an Excellant adventure at the perfect place with wonderful people. Thank you everyone at Captain Morgans.

As bad as it sounds?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/10/09
Worse. The Belizean people are warm, friendly and hospitable. Unless you are at Captain Morgan’s, where they are rude, inconsiderate and incompetent. All of our meals in San Pedro were exquisite – except for the tasteless, overcooked and overpriced meals at Captain Morgan. The rooms are cheaply furnished and have an unpleasant musty odor. We couldn’t spend more than one day there before we changed our plans and left. If you’re spending the time and money to travel to a location as captivating as Belize, spend the extra $2 a night and stay anywhere besides “the captain”.

Very Rude Management
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/10/09
Just returned from a stay at Capt Morgan's. The place is nice but the Management is rude! We had some problems with our accomodations and when we tried to get it resolved with Karen, the manager/owner, she was no help. It wasnt a big deal, it could have easily been solved but the rudeness and disinterest on her part really put us off.

Best vacation ever!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/1/09
My husband and I, along with our son and daughter-in-law, returned a week ago from Captain Morgan's, and we are already looking forward to going back next winter. It was everything--and more--I had hoped it would be. Staff was helpful and friendly, rooms were clean and well-kept, and the excursions were fun-filled. Guides for the Lamanai ruins, zip lining, cave tubing, and snorkeling made sure we were safe, as comfortable as possible, and provided good breakfasts, lunches, and snacks. If we wanted to go into San Pedro, we were always able to catch a ride on the resort's boats at no charge. I cannot imagine having had a better week than we had at Captain Morgan's Retreat, and I would recommend a stay there to anyone looking for a spectacular white sand beach lined with coconut palms. Picture yourself napping in a shady hammock or sitting under a thatched umbrella with a good book. Life just doesn't get any better than it is at Captain Morgan's.

Beautiful Place, But management is not.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/11/09
What i like about Captain Morgans is the place itself and location but as far as Guest hospitality forget it. I wish I could upload some pics of our Lamanai River trip,it was a total disaster, from the time we left until we were back on dock terrible. On the way there it started raining so hard that everyone was soaked to the skin as all they had to offer was a blue tarp to get beneath where as all the other tours out handed out rain ponchos. The really funny (not haha) was it is a site seeing tour can you imagine the fine sites we seen from under a big blue tarp. That is just part 0f the terrible management planning we ran into at the resort. I for one will never go there again. To top of the whole thing My cousin went and talked to thee manager/owner and not even a, Well sir I am sorry have a drink on the house. Great concerned Management eh.

Great Place
By Mary, 1/7/08
The Captain Morgan resort was a great place to vacation but beware of the people that sell the timeshare. We bought there and everything the people from international interval told us was a lie, they told us that if we bought a two bedroom we could use a one bedroom every year lie. When we got there last year they told us we couldn't do that and that the person that sold to us lied to everyone, he is no longer there and we never saw any of the salesman that were there the first time we were there. The exchanges are the hardest things to get and the get always are always in someplace that is off season not good. Captains Morgans itself is a really fun place.i will go back .

Great place to escape...
By hockey.fan, 4/9/07
My husband and I love Capt. Morgan's. We bought a timeshare there in 2003 and have been back every year since. We have never encountered any roaches, and have always been treated with respect, even if we weren't interested in upgrading. I agree the distance from town can be frustrating, but part of Capt. Morgan's charm is it's secluded location. My only recommendations are if you think a vacation is going to the concrete jungle, Ambergris Caye is not for you. Cancun may be more to your liking. Ambergris is a rustic community that moves on island time, that is it's charm.

Disgusting place, avoid wasting your time and your money. Go anywhere else
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/11/07
I was in San Pedro in April 2006 with my gilfriend. One morning, while we were on a little beach just south of San pedro, a guy came towards us inviting us to go to see Captain Morgan and think about buying a timeshare. For our visit they would have given us 100 dollars. So we fixed an appointment and got there punctually with our rented golf cart. As soon as we got in the resort, a kind girl welcome us and started asking many questions and filling a form - that was to justify the 100 U.S. dollars they should have given us -. After a few minutes (my girlfriend doesn't understand english), they told us that they didn't want to show us the timeshare side of the resort and that they wouldn't have given us the 100 dollars they promised just because they thought we surely wouldn't have bought a timeshare there. I offered the girl 100 dollars to rebuild Captain Morgan's finances. Overall, her so-called-bosses didn't even come to our table to explain their "disappointment". Very disgusting, hope that place will close up. To be honest... I would never buy a timeshare there, the place is awful, dirty and smelly, garbage everywhere. The pool water seemed very dirty, the beach is full of every kind of garbage coming in from the caribbean. Terrible!

disasterous
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/8/07
We spent Christmas holidays 2006 at Captain Morgan's. We had no hot water. The water we had was salt water and one day we didn't have water. We were not the only ones disappointed. In fact everyone was displeased. It is unfortunate that the current owners are more interested in selling time shares than maintaining the hotel component. The restaurant was less than acceptable. After the first night we ate anywhere but at the resort. We struggled through breakfast and tolerated lunches at the resort.
