Beach close
By Sean, 10/14/07
Overall the hotel is nice. I had the unfortunate timing of staying the week they were hosting the Portuguse Water Dog convention. Barking dogs all night from every room it seemed. The rooms were very nice and well maintained, as well as the lobby and dining areas. I was a bit dissappointed in the staff at night though. As I do for all my trips I buy postcards. I went down to the lobby store and selected 3 postcards a candy bar and a soda, for a grand total of $16.00! Naturally I inquired about the cost and was told that the postcards were $3.00 a piece. Now I understand that things are a bit pricey when bought at the hotel but $3.00 seemed a bit over board. I challenged the clerk who then asked the night manager about the price, which was not displayed on the postcard rack, and the manager confirmed that they were indeed $3.00 each. I canceled my purchace and went down the street to the drug store where I purchaced my cards for $.69 each. The proximity to the beach is a real draw to this hotel. San Buenaventura beach is right behind the hotel about a 3-4 minute walk. I very much enjoyed walking along the beach at sunset and then returning to my room within mere minutes. All in all I would recommend staying at this hotel, just not during the dog convention.

this hotel was really great..we had only stayed for one night but i wish we would have stayed longer! The hotel was clean and the staff was very helpful and friendly. It was also very close to the beach. We got a triple A discount for a very nice room. we would definitly stay there again.

Great hotel!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/21/06
I was in Ventura for the weekend and booked another hotel nearby that I did not like. Luckily, I came to this hotel and I couldn't be more pleased. The staff was outstanding; the rooms were spotless with pristine white linens, goose down comforters and beds so comfortable you'll want to take them home. The lobby is bright and beautiful; the pool is actually warm and the beach is only two blocks away. I absolutely recommend this hotel and, compared to other three star hotels in the area, this is a five star. M.A. from Los Angeles, CA

Nice enough
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/23/06
If you've ever stayed in a Marroitt Hotel, you know what to expect. For the most part, a clean nice room. The only complaint I have is that one of the mattress covers had a stain on it that you could see through the sheet. Not sure if this was an oversight on the part of the cleaning staff or it was cleaned but didn't come out. Didn't complain about it, however, and just slept in the other double bed. Asked for a quiet room and got one in the back. You could still hear a bit of road noise, as this hotel is just off the freeway, but it's not really a problem.

A very nice resort!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/25/06
My bf and I stayed for two nights there and enjoyed the beach so much. Only blocks to beach, quiet and very nice view. Also convenient to buy grocery in nearby stores. Friendly service. Love this quiet town! By the way, they have free high-speed internet!

Best hotel restaurant we've ever visited
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/17/06
Loved the beach location. The restaurant food and service was fabulous!! Spicy and unique. We might have to return with the kids...or maybe leave them at home. :)

Works!
By Junk, 12/06/05
Clean rooms, good restaurant, friendly and helpful staff, and nice location. Our heater didn't work really well and we didn't get fancy robes. But otherwise extremely satisfied. Would definitely return.

Excellent
By EricW, 07/04/05
I stayed here with my date of a few weeks for Valentine's Day and she's going to be my wife soon. We both have fond memories of this nice hotel. The hotel is a great luxurious option for Ventura and a shorter drive from L.A. than Santa Barbara. The building is very nice with a courtyard. The restaurant has upscale, fashionable furniture. The location within walking distance of the beach is really nice. We can't wait to return.
