HORRIBLE DON'T STAY HERE TRUST ME
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/17/08
This place was a compelte disaster. If you like to stay where drunk idiots are that wake you up all weekend long at all hours of the night then this is the place to be. Or if you like a place that when you call and talk to the manager to take care of problem, noise complaints, he has no balls and just shrugs off the issue and never addresses it, then your in heaven here. This was the worst experience my husband and I have ever encountered at a hotel. I lived in Grand Rapids for several years and graduated from GVSU, going back there to visit a couple times a year usually staying at the Amway Grand but this time we thought we would save some money and stay here, what a big mistake. Pay the extra 30-40 dollars and stay somehwere else that has better management, more elegant and nice, more professional, and best of all somewhere that doesn't have that kind of rift raft staying there.

Not Impressed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/27/08
The location is about the only thing that was good about this hotel. It was summer and our air conditioning was not working. Maintenance promptly showed up but was unable to fix it. The wallpaper was peeling off the walls. Hopefully, the renovation will improved this property.

Great stay!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/23/08
I liked it because of the privacy and the very nice housemaids. Also it was very nicely placed in the town. Close to the center and close to my love : ) If you EVER go to USA to meet a lover, Days inn Grand Rapids Downtown is a very good place to stay. My stay ended up in a marriage. So now GR is my hometown too! Greetings from a happy Swedish Gal'

dated.. outlet problems
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/13/07
This hotel is dated. The sheets didn't fit the bed. The place has an odor. My daughter went to plug in her curling iron and got a shock. The electric went out and maintenance had to be called. The staff is quick to handle problems, but the whole place needs to be updated.

New Hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/04/07
For get what the last person wrote. The hotel has been used sure. That's why Bob Sullivan is no longer the owner. The hotel was bought out in January of this year. The new owners are doing a complete overhaul of the property, inside and out. When done, there will be new beds, covers, carpet, wall vinal, and tile flooring. There will be granite countertops for vanity. So I hope people will come back and see the changes.

Great hotel
By A Yahoo! User, 01/17/07
We stay at Days Inn Downtown Grand Rapids every time we stay in Grand Rapids, very nice hotel, clean rooms, comfortable beds, wide selection of tv channels. Sully's bar is nice, although the live entertainment on the particular night that we were there last was something to be desired. Very convient location, don't have to worry about driving anywhere-don't have to battle traffic after leaving Van Andel. Out of all of our stays here we have never had any problems at all! Great place to stay

Our Yearly Destination!!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/06/06
We have stayed in the Days Inn Downtown for 4 years in a row. My children can't wait for my husband's taxidermy convention to come around each year. It means another great stay at the Days Inn and visiting all the local museums and swimming in the pool, and best of all, the buffet breakfast at Sully's! The location is excellent for sight seeing. We park when we get there on Wednesday and don't drive again until we leave on Sunday. The price is great enough that we have extra money for visiting the many museums in the area. With four children hundreds of miles from home, you are bound to forget something or need something unexpected. The employees of the Days Inn have, more than once, went out of their way to make us comfortable and help us find what we needed.

What a dive!
By Tom, 06/01/05
Don't listen to the other reviews, they must be by people who are connected with the hotel (can you spell P-U-B-L-I-C-I-T-Y?) I stayed there two weeks ago, and the rooms are quite shabby, and none of the TV's work properly (I had to move rooms twice, so stayed in three rooms). My friends don't think my hotel standards are high, but this hotel made for a miserable stay. Rooms look like they've been used real hard. Although the hotel is only 15 years old (no rehab since) it must have gotten heavy use during that time, based on the condition of the rooms. So the owner, Bob Sullivan, must be a real capitalist PIG - he has a captive market being in the midst of Grand Valley State University, but only cares about his profits so he doesn't maintain the rooms.

Can't wait to go back!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/05/05
I had a great time staying here. A friend and I enjoyed the excellent service. Employees were very helpful and courteous. Room was extremely satisfactory. It's at great location. Walking distance to alot of places. Sully's has great entertainment and good food and drinks. You'll enjoy staying here.
