Gondola-rific

I'm tempted to not review this hotel so I can keep it a secret but it's too good to not share.
If you have a car and don't need Ritz Carlton-esque service, this is the place to stay in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
To get there, you pass the world-famous ski jump, drive a short mile or so on a scenic road, park your car, then walk up to the 4-man gondola for hotel access. The gondola ticket's included with your stay and really adds to the ambience. It's (obviously) secluded on a plateau up the mountainside and is very scenic. That alone is worth the stay.
Exit the gondola and you've got a great view surrounding you. The hotel is mid-sized so you have a homey feel; if you get the half-pension deal you can breakfast in the morning (above-average self-serve grub), ski, then make it back for dinner in the hotel restaurant. It's not top-shelf meals but still very respectable, considering the price. 4-course, German kitchen.
Very dog-friendly. Fido will get a bowl of water at dinner and have many friends to keep him company, too.
After skiing, hit the ample sauna room or catch some rays in the solarium. It's only 3.50 euro extra and it rocks.
Put down the keyboard, get a ticket to Germany, and check yourself into Forsthaus Grasek. You won't regret it.
