Tan-A-Rama Motel, Kill Devil Hills

We have many fond memories of staying there over the years from 1991 to 2001 and loved the location so close to the ocean and the pier. The waves would roll right up to the steps during high tide. Loved to sit on the old wooden porch and watch the ocean. You couldn't find a motel closer to the water! The place looked kind of dumpy from the outside but the fact that we were so close to the water was so worth it. The rooms included kitchens and the place was very old. Bet there were many stories that could be told by all the many people including many fishermen who stayed there over the years. It was great enjoying the amazing views of the ocean. Wish it was still there! So sad to lose such a beloved place. Such a loss. The 2003 hurricane damaged it and now there are modern houses in its' place. Oh how we wish Tanarama could have been rebuilt!

GREAT LOCATION ,CLEAN ROOMS,GOOD SERVICE NICE POOL,MY KIDS LOVED THE BEACH RIGHT AT THE MOTEL AND I LOVED THE AVALON PIER RIGHT BESIDE THE HOTEL,WOULD COME BACK,THANKS TED SHERMAN.
