Don't stay here!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/3/11
My family and I recently stayed at this hotel. We were there for 9 days. When we reserved this room online it looked like a nice place to stay. I have to say, I have stayed at a lot of hotels, but this one has to be the worst I've ever stayed at. There was no cold water in the room. Not in the sink or in the shower. The AC didn't work properly and we had to purchase fans. There were ants in the room. Ants. Whenever our room was serviced, no trash was taken out. We had torn and dirty pillowcases on our pillows. We were given sheets to change ourselves and then only given enough for one bed. When the room was cleaned the floor was not vacuumed. The only ice machine was in the lobby. Our first night there, the toilet overflowed. Upon calling the front desk, someone came to our room, without tools, and then stated he had to go get a plunger to fix the problem. After fixing the problem, he left us to clean up the mess with the only 2 towels we had in the room. The toilet paper was hardly changed out nor was there any extra rolls left. There were never any parking places available and we even saw someone from the neighboring hotel come to the pool. As a result, we left a day early. I really don't see us staying at this hotel in the future unless some major changes are made.

Rubbish
By Daniel Russell, 2/17/11
We stayed here after desperately looking for a cheap hotel just to get some good sleep after a 15 hour+ drive. The price wasn't exactly high, but was more than we had found advertised. Even if it was as cheap as $20 a night though, it wouldn't be worth it. The front desk service was terrible, and made it seem like talking to guests was a chore. Then, within thirty seconds of getting into our room a local law enforcement officer came by looking for someone in the area who had been stealing change out of vending machines. Not surprising with the amounts of drunks who were wandering around outside. After entering our room we were greeted by a quite unpleasant mildew smell. There were dents in the paper thin wall, one of the lamp shades had about a quarter of it missing, and the plumbing was unreliable. One five minute shower seemed to mean twenty minutes of drain time. Despite being dead tired, falling asleep in those beds was almost impossible. We had to wear long sleeve shirts and pants due to how itchy and stain covered the beds were. The outside noise from drunks up until 4:30am also didn't help. The bathroom, in addition to the poor plumbing, also only had two paper grade quality towels while the average hotel has around four of at least a reasonable quality. That is, if you dared to use the shower area with the insects and roaches crawling around. The carpet was dank, with a nice large stain in middle of it, which perfectly accented the musty smell of the room. It did have a good sized mini fridge, though.

Yea, the reviews were right.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/27/09
It was cheap, that's for sure and pretty much everything in our room worked, but it was so nasty we didn't want to touch anything. Truly, it was the dirtiest hotel I have ever seen. The cheap rates ended up not being so cheap after we bought our own sheets at Walmart and Lysol to spray everything down with and flipflops to wear in the shower. There were food wrappers and assorted other trash between the bed and nightstand - weird, chunky gunk in the shower and on the sink faucet, and some gnarly brown stuff on the bathroom floor. I can do cheap, basic, threadbare, but I cannot do dirty. My only expectation for my $45/night is clean. Hotels are already reknown for other people's body fluids on the beds and floors and stuff - I don't need visible reminders.

Do not go!!!!!!!!!!
By Miss J, 9/29/08
Our family stayed here on 09/30/08 which was a bad idea. The room was very nasty. The microwave was old and very very dirty. The bath tub was very nasty, and the painting on the walls were comming off. The good thing about the hotel is that its is at a great location and the staff members were friendly. My advice to you will be not to go......

Hey, try it out...
By J. W, 8/14/07
What I did like is the convenient location. It's just off the bridge from downtown Charleston. While I know this isn't a 4-star hotel, it has always been better for me than most of the reviews I've read. Staff has always been pleasant, and out of 3 times staying here, the most that's happened was a burned out lamp bulb. Even a replacement came in less than 10 minutes. The TV and AC has always been just fine. If you want inexpensive but decent, Masters will do just right. One thing that you should bear in mind, the Charleston area generally does not have cool tap water in the summertime, so if you get warm water from your cold tap, don't be upset.

Won't stay here again
By Dena, 7/5/06
We had stayed at a Masters Inn in Cayce, SC the previous 3 nights and had a wonderful experience. This masters in was not the same. Our room was dirty, the air conditioning didn't seem to work during the day, the door knob to the bathroom was broke. The last night we stayed here, our neighbors decided to have a big party and we were awake all night with loud music and people standing right outside our door all hours of the night. We called the front desk twice but it did not help. I was actually afraid that someone was trying to break in on us at one point. For the price we paid, it was not worth it. Next time I will pay a little more money and stay closer to the beach.

Clean, reasonable, great location

Room was clean, staff friendly and responsive. Not a lot of extras, but a great bargain for what we paid. Would definitely stay there again.

NOT WHAT I EXPECTED
By margaret b, 5/24/06
I READ REVIEWS ABOUT THE MASTERS INN AND WAS A LITTLE SCARED TO STAY THERE BUT I WAS VERY SUPRISED. THE STAFF WERE HELPFUL AND WE WENT OUT FOR BREAKFAST ASD WHEN WE HAD RETURNED OUR ROOM HAD BEEN CLEANED. I HAD READ THAT GET TOWELS WERE A PROBLEM, WE HAD PLENTY OF TOWELS. THE ONLY PROBLEM THAT WE HAD WERE THE PEOPLE AROUND US GOING IN AND OUT OF ROOMS AND TALKING AND LAUGHING AT 3:OOAM. BUT THAT IS THE GUEST NOT HAVING RESPECT FOR OTHERS.
