Disappointed.
Pros:
Near lots of shops and eateries
Excellent customer service
Great amenities: breakfast, bottle of wine, coffee bar
Cons:
Price to value ratio is poor
Super LOUD air conditioners
VERY noisy housekeeping staff
Other entrances locked during day
We came here for my husband to take a professional exam and decided to stay the night. The lobby is tastefully decorated and the coffee bar features tea, coffee, and hot chocolate. The desk staff are unfailingly helpful. Breakfast consisted of blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, pineapple, grapes, bananas, chocolate/croissants, bagels, boiled eggs, cereal and granola, various juices and V8. You also get a complimentary bottle of wine in your room.
However, the air conditioning unit in my room was HORRID! It kept me up all night. It would turn on, ding and clink for a bit, whir, blow some air, and then shut off....every 10 minutes or so. I would have turned it off, but then we would have frozen. When I reported this to the staff in the morning, they were concerned but obviously not TOO concerned. Also, the housekeeping staff is very, very loud. I don't know what that lady's problem was, but she didn't have to call loudly to her friends cleanind down the hall and use obscenities.
I say that the price to value ratio is poor because we paid $209 for one night and I didn't get a wink of sleep between the loud housekeeping and the even louder air conditioner. If you overlook that, the overall experience was fine. There are many interesting shops within walking distance and some very fine dining options. I loved that my room overlooked the harbor (even if I saw several creepy old men peeking into the rooms from outside...) Just be careful and shut your blinds.
