Planning to stay here Every time we're in NYC
First of all, we searched both within NYC for a hotel as well as outside. For $180.50 we found a suite here that included a jaccuzzi... absolutely a must after walking for miles around downtown Manhattan. Add that to the fact that it was only a 25 minute drive from the WTC site (near where we parked once in the city) and we were sold.
The room was definitely more than we expected. Three VERY large rooms, with a bathroom and tub/shower seperate from the jaccuzzi room was extremely appreciated. Wetbar, mini-fridge... basically all the inroom amenities. Pull-out sofa, free wireless highspeed internet. Room service from the on-site dining room available until 10 pm. The beds were VERY firm, and very comfortable. Very clean, flawless. Check-out isn't until noon, so you get plenty of time to enjoy these amenities in the morning. BUT there are only TWO of these suites on-site, so you may want to book early.
The hotel itesef is well appointed. The dining room is certainly upscale. There is a complementary continental breakfast served daily that included a scrumptious omelette bar... if you walk away hungry it's definitely your own fault (breakfast utnil 10:30). There is a billiards room, a pool with jaccuzzi (for those who can't afford/can't book early), and an exercise room. My only complaint was that we arrived af approximately midnight, and were hungry. There were no take-out/delivery menues in the room other than the on-site dining room. Unfortunately, the dining room was closed.
I'm not certain about the local nightlife, but being half an hour from Manhattan, I had no worries about boredom. Another plus: Gas prices in this area were approximately $.50/gal. cheaper than in NYC proper. The difference between NY and NJ taxes I expect grin
