Customer Dis-satisfaction

My boyfriend bought me two nights at this establishment for my birthday. I was very excited because I had never been to Cape May and lived in New Jersey all my life. Unfortunately the day of the trip I came down with the flu, he called to see if we could reschedule (we didnt want a refund) and they were rude and offered no options except to say..."who says you won't have the flu next time". I was disappointed enough and then they not only added to it, they were rude...I'm glad we didn't go, seems customer service isn't their thing. After reading the other reviews here about cleanliness it seems that running a hotel isn't their thing either.

Disappointing for a family owned business

This inn looked very nice and seemed like a nice family run inn, so I made the reservation for my boyfriend's birthday. When we had a death in the family days before our reservation, I thought that the owners would be understanding to the unexpected change in plans. The owners were not only unsympathetic but were actually rude when we asked what we could do to change our plans. I was not even asking for a refund but for them to credit us so we could stay there at another time, and not during our original reserved nights since the wake and funeral turned out to be during that time. The owners simply did not care at all and wouldn't work out anything with us. I would expect a lot more empathy from a family owned business and I thought people looking to find a nice place to stay in Cape May may want to know this before booking a reservation.

great location

had everything you would expect from a motor inn plus a nice view of the ocean from the walkway in front of your room, but you need to be on the second or third floor to see it. Only complaint was the bed was hard as a rock. I would go back for the location alone. Nice people and good service

Great Location

All hotels / motels are expensive in Cape May but this has the best all around location. If you are not on the ground floor it could cause a problem if you can't do stairs due to an injury or handicap because there is no elevator. Other than that the people are friendly, the pool is cleaned but as most hotels has no life guard. Have been to many hotels over the years and prefer the Stockton Inn over all the rest.

Everything Was Great

This was our first stay at the Motor Inn. Everything was great. The location is very close to everything in Cape May with the beach directly across the street. We never moved our car during our stay. The service was great and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was clean, as was the rest of the property. We'll be back in the future.

\"A\" for location; D- for cleanliness.

The Stockton Motor Inn gets an A for location, but a D- for cleanliness. The accommodations were what you expect from a motor inn, simple and economical. What it lacked was the simple amenities you should expect, like coffee, tissues and a clean rug. My infants� knees were completely black from crawling on the carpet! I would go back if I knew the cleanliness quality improved. The location is great and the pricing is fair for the accommodations provided, but the basic requirement of a clean room should not be sacrificed.

good value if you wont be in your room a lot

We stayed at the Stockton Manor in Cape May. The location was great; we walked everywhere the whole weekend!! Our room had a semi ocean view. The room was a little dated...looked like it had not been redone since the 70s...small shower....seriously, if you were an overweight person, you would not be able to fit into it. WHen we went into the bathroom, the ceiling wa partially removed giving us a view of some wires. The bed was comfy, there was a tv and fridge in the room, the rest of the house was kept nicely and was clean...the porch was really great! Rocking chairs overlooking the ocean, cant beat that! We were not in our room that much, so it was ok, although we probably would pay a little bit more next time for a nicer place. However, they have a bunch of other rooms there that may be better. I am not sure.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay this spring at the Stockton Manor. Who knew there were Victorian Inns in Cape May with so many modern ammenities? If we known, we sure would have passed on the breakfast and stayed there sooner. The room was clean and comfortable, not to mention the great view of the ocean! Service was great despite my wifes several "small" requests. As a result of the lousy weather, we did (well she did) a lot of shopping, so the central location was definately a plus. Next time you're in Cape May make sure to stop in and check out the Stockton Manor, I'm sure you'll be pleasantly suprised with all it has to offer!

Excellent accommodations

My family and I recently stayed at the Stockton Inn in Cape May. We enjoyed our stay very much. The rooms were clean and nicely furnished. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I would recommend this motel to anyone. The location is the best you can ask for in Cape May. We never had to move our car after we arrived. This Inn is at the center of the Cape May beach, boardwalk and shopping. Anybody who has been to Cape May knows how difficult it is to find parking. What a relief it was to not have to drive in circles trying to get to our restaurant. They also have a Victorian guest house that is absolutely beautiful. The landscaping and upkeep of this place is maticulous. Unfortunately for us and our kids, the rooms in the house are for adults only, but they do have two suites (apartments) that are for families. My husband and I are looking forward to spending our anniversary in one of of the rooms this fall. We may also try to book there next year, with the kids, in one of the suites. Overall, I thought the Stockton was the best value in Cape May.

Best location in Cape May!

The Stockton Inn is a great place to stay in Cape May. It is actually two hotels in one. You can stay in the Stocton Manor which is a beautiful victorian home or in the motor inn which is, well, a motor inn! Everything very clean and the staff was very accomodating. The room (we had an efficiency)was clean, bright, comfortable and quiet! A storm blew through during the night and we never heard a thing. The staff was very friendly and helpful. You can sit on the veranda and enjoy a fabulous view of the ocean. It is directly across the street from the quaint boardwalk, and beach. It is within walking distance to many restaurants. They have a miniature golf course (extra charge) on the property along with an outdoor pool. We stayed there in 2004 and will be back again this year. We always give my parents a spring vacation getaway at the Stockton for Christmas each year. One year we splurged and got a room in the Monor for them and they loved it! I don't think you will be disapointed if you choose to stay at the Stockton on your next trip to Cape May. Look up Patty and tell her Martha sent you!
