Great business retreat
By Rebecca B, 5/11/10
Our small business held our annual, week-long corporate retreat at Amber House. It was an excellent choice. We were able to have meetings and presentations for the whole group as well as smaller breakout sessions and private teleconferences when needed. The innkeepers went out of their way to help with the event, even going out to fetch lunch for the group when the morning meetings ran long. The rooms and beds were very comfortable and the bathrooms lovely. Breakfast was really good and it was nice to have a choice each day. The early morning in-room coffee and late night cookies were much appreciated. The location was excellent with many fabulous restaurants and entertainment within easy walking distance. Because of the great location, no one had to drive during the entire retreat, we walked everywhere. Every single attendee commented on how great it was having the retreat at Amber House. We highly recommend Amber House for business travel and we have already decided to go back for our next retreat.

Holiday Heaven
By Jonelle, 12/30/08
Our first Christmas was spent in this wonderful place. The room was perfect...comfortable bed, fireplace, table for dinning, tv, and heart-shaped tub. The architecture of the house and room was beautifully preserved. The staff was very friendly and attentive, yet very respectful of your privacy. While the inn is centrally located, it is not on a real busy street. We had a room at the front of the house and had a great tree-filled view out the window. We felt warm and comfortable on arrival. After reading the comments left in the room's guest book, we knew that we were just one of the many people who had shared in its warmth and love. The "Romance Package" was worth the little extra money...the champagne and chocolates were great. I travel for business and have paid a lot more for an average hotel room then what one night's stay in the fabulous place cost. We just might have to make it an annual trip!!!

Best ever!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/7/08
This was, by far, the most romantic, clean, and cozy B&B we've ever visited. Very gay-friendly--the staff was totally respectful--- which was great since we were there for our California legal (same-sex) wedding. There were many nice touches which enhanced our experience---jacuzzi tub, lovely artwork, warm, freshly baked cookies every night, tea and coffee waiting right outside the door every morning---along with the newspaper, and flat-screen TV with lots of cable channels. The staff was amazing, with a "your wish is their command" attitude. For example, I asked for a Mapquest to Santa Rosa, and there it was. The breakfasts were great---fresh fruit, hearty granola, quiche, blintzes, and fantastic scones. Above all, the bed was extremely comfortable with a grand mattress-topper---like sleeping on a cloud. We especially appreciated the walking distance convenience to many lovely restaurants and even to the car rental place (we were able to drop off our car the night before we departed, walk back to Amber House, and were able to take our time in the morning to just relax before our long flight home to DC). We definitely recommend the Mozart Room!!! We so fell in love with the place that we have made a request for a reservation a year from now to renew our vows! We have been together for over 25 years and are seasoned travelers who have been all over the world during that time. We both agree that the Amber House is one of the nicest places we've ever stayed!

Great service, atmosphere, experience
By Spacetrekker, 11/20/06
Stayed here last week (Nov. 2006) during a business trip and I'll be booking again. The service was excellent and included perks like cookies and drinks delivered to your room in the evenings, coffee delivered in the a.m. and breakfast delivered to your room or served in the dining room. Interenet connectivity includes wireless, dsl, & dial up. My room had its own bathroom with a large clawfoot tub and seperate shower. The bed was very comfortable. The houses are older and impart a historic atmosphere. The only drawback here (not really one for me) is that there's a little more noise than you'd find in upper grade, modern hotels with double pane windows. The TV in my room had poor sound quality, but there was a full size stereo receiver and cd player with in-wall speakers mounted in the bedroom and bathroom that sounded fine. Location is within walking distance of many restaurants and a few entertainment establishments.

This is a great bed and breakfast. Clean and well-kept. We found the staff to be friendly and helpful. Enjoyed a gourmet breakfast served to us on the porch. Would stay again.

Charming getaway with beautiful themed rooms.
By Mark, 9/26/05
We live in Sacramento and had been looking for a good place locally where we could "get away from it all" without having to spend a lot of time travelling. Amber house fit the bill very well. The bed and breakfast is comprised of several beautifully restored Victorian houses in Midtown with rooms themed after artists, writers and musicians. Each room is quite unique and offers many amenities, some with private porches and nearly all with big jacuzzi bathtubs. The service was top notch, the breakfast superior. It ain't cheap but it's worth every dime. They have a very comprehensive web site as well so check them out.

We come here every year.
By amber barnes, 9/10/05
My husband and I have been visiting the Amber House every year since our wedding night in 2002. Since we are from the Sacramento area, it's an in-town vacation, but feels like were out of town. It has become a tradition for us to stay in a different room each time. Most rooms have a spa tub for 2. Some rooms have fireplaces or clawfoot tubs. The breakfasts are gourmet and are served in courses. Don't forget the chocolate chip cookies delivered to your room every afternoon. That's my favorite part. It always feels like we are the only guests because we have tons of privacy and the staff always treats us so well. Even though it is located downtown, we have never had a problem with parking. Stay at least 2 nights to get the full experience and have enough time for relaxation.

Looking forward to returning
By Dre, 5/25/05
As a business traveler I often stay at many hotels but needed a break consequently when I was planning my trip to Sacramento I decided on something different. Wonderful is an understatement. The service, the rooms, the atmosphere was great. There are at least 5 other rooms I want to stay in. I loved breakfast on a train in case you were to lavy from lying in the comfortable bed or the snacks in the evening. They just made me feel very special and I can't wait to go back.
