Not Worth The Money
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/28/09
A few weeks a go my wife and I ate at Red Restaurant. The restaurant really looks nice. It has a modern contemporary look to it. I herd it has only been open for two years and has some mixed reviews. When we arrived the hostess sat us and told us that our server would be with us shortly. It must of took about ten minutes until one of the service staff came to greet us. My wife and I ordered some wine while we looked over the menu. My wife had the Crab Cake for her appetizer, which neither one of us really liked that much. It seemed like they added a lot of bread crumbs and to much spices. You couldn't really taste the crab. I ordered the Heirloom Tomato Salad. The portion was really small for the price of the salad. It was nothing special just an average tasting salad. For our Entree's my wife ordered the Snapper and I ordered the Bone-In Rib Eye Steak. We also got some side dishes. We ordered the twice baked potatoes, and Prosciutto wrapped Asparagus. My wife's Snapper had a strong fishy smell to it. Since we are both foodies and watch the food network we learned that this means that the seafood is not fresh. We sent the Snapper back and my wife ordered the Salmon. While we waited for my wife's Salmon we shared my bone- in Rib Eye Steak and the side dishes. The steak was just ok. You could tell they don't use Prime steaks like Flemmings Steak House. The twice baked potatoes were also really small for the price. The taste was just average. The Prosciutto wrapped Asparagus was also just average and had some burn marks on it. We were now done with my steak and both side dishes and still didn't have my wife's Salmon. Our waiter came back to our table and said he is sorry that it was taking so long, but the kitchen was backed up. About two minutes later the Salmon came out. After that long wait we were disappointed that the Salmon was also just average. You could also tell that the quality of the Salmon was just average Farm Raised Salmon. I have eaten Sock Eyed Salmon and it is dark Pink and really Rich in taste. So I could tell the Salmon we were eating was low in quality. I don't remember what the side dish on the salmon plate was but it was also just average tasting. We were not going to eat dessert, but one of the managers offered to buy us a dessert since we didn't enjoy the Snapper and it took so long to get our Salmon. We ended up getting the PB&J Souffle. Wow this was one of the best desserts I have had in a long time.It is a simi- frozen dessert that sent me back to the days when I was a kid eating Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches. At least we didn't have to leave totally disappointed. Red Restaurant is a beautiful restaurant and it seems like the management wants it to be an upper end restaurant, but are not using the quality of food to make it one.

What happened to this place?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/18/09
We use to come to Cima restaurant a lot about two years ago. The food, the service, the varity, and the atmosphere was awesome. About two years ago we move to San Diago and haven't been to Cima since. My family and I ate at Cima a few weeks ago for the first time in a couple of years. We were really disappointed that our favorite place was not the same as we remembered. The food was really bad. The oysters smelled bad, the Lobsters were precooked and sitting out on a cart. They took the shark fin soup off the menu. They took the whole pig off the menu. No honey walnut shrimp. They ran out of the whole coconuts. The service wasn't that great either. When the table next to us left, the service staff didn't even clean the table. I actually seen servers placing dirty dishes on it from other tables. Even the whole decoration of the buffet didn't look the same. Two or three years ago this was the best buffet around. I would have to say that the Universal Hilton is now better. One of the staff members happened to ask how we liked our dinner. I couldn't lie I told him WHAT HAPPENED TO THIS PLACE. He said over the past couple years they had a change in managers, chef's, and F&B director [? F&B director] and a lot has changed. I can't be leave the hotel management would let Cima get this bad.

hotel restaurant is horrible
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/10/08
The restaurant CIMA in the hotel has very bad service. The food is good but the service is poor. The manager and waiters refuse to help move my family when the outdoor patio seating has a lot bees. My wife got stung and took the management half an hour to come to treat my wife. They came only after she got upset and refused to seat down until someone came and took care of the bee sting. The first manager who talked to my wife first wanted to call the security. It's only after our complain about the bee sting that she stated that she wouild get someone to treat her. But the manager disappeared for 20 minutes without a word. My family was left in the same table with all the bees for a minimum of half an hour. No apologies from the manager.

What a bad experience we had...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/04/08
Few weeks prior our arrival, we already made our reservations. But unforetunately, when we arrived, rooms were not prepared yet. Yes, we were there at 1:00 p.m. and check-in time was 3:00 p.m. We did wait until 3:30 p.m. but still our rooms were not yet clean and prepared. We waited until 5:30 p.m. and our party will start at 6:00 p.m. How can we prepare ourselves to that big event that we held in that hotel? Staffs from the front desk including supervisor were very unreasonable and does not know how to deal the problem. Also, the big mistake they made was two of our relatives rooms that were given, somebody still laying down in the bed when they open the door. My relatives were so disgusted and upset when they went back to the front desk and complained. I was there standing and waiting to my room, very tired from driving for few hours, waiting and waiting but never heard anybody from the staffs saying "sorry". Yes, a lot of people were arriving that day but if policy is 3:00 p.m. - check-in time then no matter how many people will check-in at the same day, since, we made our reservations few weeks prior tho our arrival date, rooms should be ready at 3:00 p.m. This is our first time to experience this kind of problem. We did check-in to a bigger and popular hotel, small hotel and all kinds of hotel from other town, state, and country but did not experience this.

It wasnt great then again it wasnt a resort neither.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/02/07
Our bed was too soft, me and a few others who was staying here for the weekend got a really bad backache after the first night. So we slept on the floor the second night. Buffet breakfast at CIMA will cost you $14 per person, this buffet is limited in choices 5 items in total to choose from, but it is all you can eat for what its worth. Dinner wasn't any better, sorry to say. Over priced and lacking at type of culinary cuisine as promised. Website pictures are deceiving.

Hidden oasis outside of LA
By Shelagh, 05/12/07
Due to the lack of reasonably priced hotels closer to LA, we opted to try our luck at the Pacific Palms. Though it is obviously geared for business people/avid golfers, we were very happy with our choice. The staff was very friendly throughout our stay, attending to any requests. Our room was VERY large, with a nice office area if that is important to you. The furnishings were modern and pleasant. Each room has a small balcony with beautiful views. We chose to dine at the hotel restaurant CIMA which had excellent food, though a little overpriced. The only problem with this hotel is the location. It is approximately 30 miles from LA which can be a problem with traffic. In the future, we would stay there a at least a few days to enjoy the golf course/spa, as opposed to using it as a home base for sight seeing in LA.

Excellent experience!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/28/06
We stayed at the pacific palms for 3 nights and found the place to be very clean and comfortable. Our room was made up perfectly each day. The view from the balcony was breathtaking. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. I have no complaints about the place whatsoever - I would stay there again in a heartbeat. With the rate we got through travelocity we got a huge bang for our buck!!

They call themselves a resort????
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/26/06
Stayed at this hotel for a couple nights. Lobby was nice and bright, but difficult to find the guest elevators. Room was much smaller than most name brand hotels. Got a cheap rate through an online booking site. The only dining facilty on property was closed for dinner due to low occupancy!!! I was redircted to a tacky sports bar on the bottom floor. I was stuck with no choice for dining, desk agent advised me not to go "down the hill" after sunset!!!???? They call themselves a resort, but be warned...the restaurant operates based on number of guests staying.

Wonderful
By Luvlyazn, 10/19/05
This place is beautiful~ I was there for my cousin's wedding, it was great. But the food catering should of been beter!!! I also have visited Pacific Palms with my boyfriend and it was a great place to just walk around and enjoy the night view.

Great hotel
By Stanley L, 09/26/05
Located atop a hill presiding over the City of Industry area, Pacific Palms Resort and conference center is the most luxurious hotel around. Surrounded by giant green trees and a lush golf course, the resort offers many high end amenities found only in four star resorts. The prices for the rooms are a great bargain. The service is not so great by it is still a great value. Don't miss the golfing packages offered by the hotel.
