Exactly what we hoped for!
By Anna, 4/6/12
If you're looking for a clean, comfortable, safe and affordable place to stay while in San Francisco, than this is it! It was our first time in SF, and we chose to stay in Castle Inn because of such high ratings on the reviews. Castle Inn is located within 20 minute walk to Pier 39 and other popular places in this area. Parking, microwave and fridge were included in the price. The beds were comfy, towels and sheets clean and in good condition. The service was professional and helpful. In the morning, they served cereal, granola bars, yogurt, fruit and coffee in the lobby. Overall, we had a great experience and will definitely go back next time we're in SF.

Please don't fall for the fake reviews like we did
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/18/08
Our two sons and their friends needed a place to stay in San Fransisco for a reunion. We first reserved rooms at the Sheraton at fisherman's wharf, but our boys thought that we had spent too much money and asked Mom to find something a bit cheaper. Mom read the Castle Inn reviews and booked two rooms. The boys arrived with their friends and were greeted by the very rude staff. They went up to the rooms and discribed them as small, and smelly with uncomforatble beds that looked like the sheets hadn't been changed, and a 12'' TV with a remote that didn't work. They took a walk around the neighborhood and saw bars on windows, grafiti, homeless, and prostitutes. They called us and we found other accomodations at a nice hotel on the wharf. Please don't throw your money away and endanger your family by staying at the Castle Inn.

Low Quailty Pay Extra for a Chain on the Wharf!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/27/08
My husband and our 2 daughters stayed at the Castle Inn 2 nights. Upon arrival, before 3:00, we were not allowed to check in. After a 4 hour drive, we needed to use the restroom, but their was none. The clerk was rude and could not recommend a close facility. The property is old an dated, We checked in a couple hours later to a room with 2 queen beds. The room was very small with a bathroom not large enough to dress in. The refrigerator and tub drain didn't work. For $225 a night, I was very disapointed with the accomodations! I would not recommend or return. Pay the few extra dollars for a chain hotel close to pier 39.

BRING YOUR OWN BREAKFAST
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/31/08
the room was great, kind of gave us that san fransisco apartment life for a weekend. One member of the staff was great, he was very informative with directions and parking, the other staff member, whoa nelly look out, be careful not to snag an extra 25 cent granola bar, she will let you know about it, i would surely stay there again but next time i will bring my own breakfast!

Wouldn't go back
By Kaella, 10/3/07
Upon arrival, my family and I were greeted by the graffiti infested sign in the two car spot where we parked to check in. When checking in was settled, we went to the "parking lot" and even though there were a ton of rooms, there were about 10 parking spots, some that were even reserved for "small cars only" (we were traveling in three mini vans). The rooms were your typical motel rooms - but at over $200 a night, it was a rip off. I stayed in a room with two queen beds. Like I said, it was nothing special. The location, however, was what really made me upset. The website said that Castle Inn was in the middle of it all. Unless you consider "it all" the slums, then I'd say the website is deceiving. However, I will say that the staff was VERY nice and that the breakfast table was convenient in the morning when we were packing up and leaving. If you're looking for somewhere cheap to stay for a night in the midst of a longer journey in California and you're not picky, then I would definitely recommend Castle Inn. However, if you're staying in San Francisco for more than a night, pay the extra money and stay closer to the Wharf - the only time I got to see the Golden Gate Bridge was in a painting in my hotel room!

Best place to stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/9/07
Wonderful location. There are a variety of restaurants within walking distance. When you check in, you get maps and info on how to get public transportation. You are welcomed as though you are a member of thier family. The rooms are large, which is difficult to find in San Francisco. The couple who own the place are wonderful and know how to provide the best customer service I've ever seen. We asked about printing our boarding passes for our return flight. We provided our flight info. and they printed for us...she got us in the A group on Southwest so that we could go out and enjoy the rest of our vacation. I can't imagine ever wanting to stay anywhere else in San Francisco. I asked for early check in and got it...which was very important, since I have a bad back and need to lay down often.

Highly recommend Caslte Inn
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/27/07
Me, hsuband & teen kids had a great experience with Castle Inn. We arrived a day earlier than our reservations & desk staff helped us find an affordable motel within walking distance. We received driving, bus & walking help. Good location, free parking, comfortable & clean room, excellent suggestions for shopping & restaurant, etc. Was quiet & safe, too! Will stay here on future trips & will highly recommend.

I am not a criminal!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/26/07
I was treated like a criminal! Upon my arrival the front desk said that they required a $25.00 deposit even though I had already paid on-line. His comment was "I don't know you, would if you run off with my television." (Which by the way had no remote and was bolted to a run down 1970's cabinet.) After viewing the room it was clear that the description of the hotel on the internet had been highly exaggerated. It was not as "clean" as they had described. When I requested refund so I could stay someplace else, I was refused. I have received such poor customer service, ever! I still left the hotel and stayed someplace else. I tried to talk to the owner and appeal to her "good nature", but she refused my refund.
