Stranded in Port Townsend
By Nancy, 07/21/09
We were stranded because of a Ferry cancellation, due to high winds. We had walked on at Keystone, so no car. We walked to the Tides from the Ferry dock. Although the Tides Inn had no vacancies, "Skeeter" (?) helped us find lodging elsewhere for the night. He spent at least half an hour on the phone trying to find something for us. We were one of the lucky ones, probably got the last room in Port Townsend, thanks to Skeeter. We would definitely stay here, the service was top notch.

We can't wait to go back!!!
Lovely room with a spectacular view. Clean, roomy and very tastefyully decorated. Nice staff. We highly recommend it for a romantic weekend. We ate at the BayView restaurant, a short walk north. Nice. We had a problem with the key card to our room a couple of times. other than that everything went smoothly.

Will find somewhere else to stay next time!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/07/08
We were very disappointed with the Tides Inn. I guess we stayed in the older part of the hotel and it was in serious need of updating. The furnishings looked like they were from the 1950's, the linens were yellowed and thin. The bathroom was really used up with lifting linoleum, stained shower floor, banged up woodwork, etc. The "free" continental breakfast left something to be desired. The only good things were the view and the location. I will look be looking for somewhere else to stay next time we visit Port Townsend. This was a big disappointment, especially for $219.00 per night!!!

Good for road trip
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/12/08
The lady at the front counter was amazing. We had to leave very early next morning and couldn’t have breakfast at the hotel and all restaurants were closed at the time. She let us pick up as much food as we wanted for breakfast the night before. She recommended us some great pleases for dinner, lunch and breakfast. We stayed in the old part of the hotel. Room was small but right on the water. Bathroom was clean but did not have a fan. Room needed some good cleaning. Room did not have any insulation; we could have conversation with our neighbors. If you are sensitive sleeper and looking for a lot of privacy, stay some place else. It is good for one-two nights when you are gone for the most of the day. The view is amazing, right from the balcony!!

Dirty, Dirty, Dirty
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/24/07
I want to start off by saying that I am a hotel manager of a corporately owened hotel with 120 rooms. I know all the different things that can happen in hotels when it comes to cleanliness, maintenance, and human error. I know that sometimes a person gets checked into a dirty room, or maintenance issues are not addresses, and I know what it looks like when i housekeepers is lazy and knobdy checks their work. I tend to be more accepting of these issues when staying at a hotel and I don't cause much of a fuss. I have stayed at this hotel twice. The first time was in the older rooms in 2006 and the stay was great. The rooms are rustic and yes they are a little rundown, but we did not have any problems with the two rooms that we stayed in. They are great if you don't plan on spending a lot of time in the room. The second time in 2007 we got a newer room and payed over $200 fr one night. We thought it would be worth it though because we were on our honeymoon and wanted a romantic night in the town we got engaged in. First off these rooms are UGLY!!!!!Despite the decore the room seemed fine at first glance. Then one by one things went wrong. I went to put a bottle of wine in the fridge it was warm. Took alook at the obvious and it was unpluged, alright I though, slight oversight, it happens, no big deal. Then I realized why the last guest, or maybe the ove before unplugged it, it was loud!!! then I accidentaly bumped the try under the freezer and mildewy water went everywhere. I don't know how long since that thing had even been opened but it was gross. I little later I decided that I wanted to use the jacuzzi in the room. I went to check it out when I noticed that the stopper for the drain was not attached like it should be. It looked like the one from my hotel so I was trying to screw it back down but I realized that this was not the correct stopper for the drain. I realized that when I put water in the tub it did keep it in place so I thought it would not be to big of a deal, but then I saw it, a 3 inch soap scum and hair shaving line all the way around the tub. The housekeeper had not cleaned the tub at all since the last person had stayed. I can handle a stray hair, but that was gross!!!!! The next morning I was over by one of the windows and realized that the latch and lock were broken and it could have easily been opened from the outside since it was on the ground floor. Then when we checkout they wanted me to pay again even though I had given them cash the night before. They did get it figured out but knowbody asked me how my stay was. I did not complain, although I regret it now. We have decided to stay elsewhere when we return to PT. It is a great town with alot of other places to stay that have even better locations. The only good things were that they had a free laundry right across the hall from our room with free detergent and fabric softner, the breakfast is also great. That aside the customer servie is poor and the rooms are dirty. I do not understand how hard it is to inspect 27 or so hotel rooms every day. I have 120 and manage it!

I always come back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/11/07
I have stayed in both sides...the reviews are pretty accurate...both the good and bad. The new rooms are probably the best in town when considering the view. They are swell. The older part is where a key scene in "Officer and a Gentleman" takes place. So while the older rooms are...well...OLDER they are still decent and the view makes up for it...and heck they are in a movie with Richard Gere! Keep in mind I go to PT for the outdoor activities, the town and the great eating/drinking spots...not to sit in a hotel room all day. If you're going for a romantic weekend...hit the new part and pay the premium...if you're going biking or kayaking and don't want to camp or else want a water view and a warm room...book the older part. I stayed at a Millenium suite that was worse off than the older part!

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/26/07
The location is perfect, the rooms and surrounding area is in need of much cleaning!!! and painting The hot tub was dirty peanuts were found under the bed, the patio had a empty package of cig's on it and 5 beer caps The breakfast in the morning was excellent, such a shame for such a nice setting We will not be back There were 5 couples with us and all 5 give it 2 out of 10, breakfast 8 out of 10

Don't stay in the older part!!!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/20/07
When we called to book a room based upon the internet pictures the front desk man totally mislead us. We would have been happy to pay extra in order to have a clean room. We were told that for $10 more we could have the Officer in a Gentleman Room with a Hot Tub. Upon arrival the room didn't look as though it's been cleaned since they filmed the movie! The Hot tub was a Jacuzzi tub that was filthy, and looked 30 years old. The bed was old and funky!!! The staff would not move us. The morning we checked out there wasn't anyone in the office at 7:00am so we could at least get our breakfast! Stay some place else!

Wonderful Weekend!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/08/07
We loved everything about The Tide's Inn. The view is amazing and the room was perfect. The jacuzzi tub and comfy bed make it a great place for a romantic getaway. We can't wait to go back!

Some unfortunate problems
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/02/06
I booked a room over the phone and was told that they had a Queen Room with a Hot Tub on the balcony. When we arrived, here is the sequence of events that occurred: 1) Entered room to find that base heater was cranked up all the way and room was a stifling temperature. Tried to turn off and was unable to do so. More on that later. 2) Overall room quality was quite poor. We were in the older, unrenovated portion of the hotel, so amenities did not look like the picture from the website AT ALL. I asked to upgrade into a newer room and was told they were all booked. 3) Found the the "hot tub" was actually a Jacuzzi Tub that needed to be filled with water. It was also quite dirty inside. 4) After spending a few minutes with the heater, called front desk to come help. Person came down, did the same thing I did and said it would take a while but it should be off. We went out for the evening and returned to find that the heater was in fact still going strong. Called the front desk again and this time insisted that they just disconnect the unit so we could at least sleep in temperature not hotter than a sauna. 5) Calmly discussed all of these issues with the front desk and was informed that they were sorry and they would credit $20 off of our bill. That was all they could do. When I checked out, this info. hadn't been passed along, so I had to mention it again and make sure it happened. Needless to say, things did not go very well and I would recommend that you look elsewhere to stay or at least insist on being in the new portion of the hotel (which is actually quite nice).
