The Palace Hotel Port Townsend is a beautifully restored Victorian hotel in the heart of the historic district Port Townsend. It is located one block from the ferry dock in the center of many fine art galleries, restaurants, theaters, antique stores, and unique gift shops. The Palace Hotel Port Townsend is a Magnuson Hotels affiliate. Port Townsend is rich in history and charm. This was once a former bordello with most rooms named after former working girls including Madame Maries suite and Miss Kittys room. The guests will marvel at the Victorian architecture. One can enjoy a stroll by the marina or on the beach. Kayak, fish, or take a whale-watching cruise. Bicycle or hike in the Olympic National Forest. One can soak in a Jacuzzi or old-fashioned six-foot claw foot tub featured in many of our beautifully restored rooms. Each room is uniquely decorated in a Victorian theme, and furnished with antiques and collectibles. The spacious guest rooms vary from European-style accommodations to two-room suites. Many rooms have magnificent views of Port Townsend Bay or the historic downtown.

Do Not Stay At Palace Review
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/21/09
Re Do Not Stay At Palace Sir or Madam: This is the final demand prior to suing you for slander and libel.Since you and the Palace Hotel are citizens of seperate states I will be suingyou in Federal Court in 10 days unless you correct your libelousadvertizement. I have stayed in the Palace and another hotel located in Port Townsend, and I can personally assure that the hotel they are refering to is NOT IN FACTthe Palace. The locations described fit the other hotel, and it is not possiblefrom the description that it could be the Palace Hotel. Unless I get an immediate response that you intend to remove the ad I willbe proceeding immediately. /s/ Johnnie R. Handicapped guests
By Adida, 10/28/08
Access to the first floor of accommodations is up two flights of stairs. There is no elevator! Anyone who is walking impaired will have difficulty. There is also no service to help with bags so pack light!

We loved the Palace
By JonnieS, 08/14/08
We stayed in the Crow's Nest at the Palace for a week in July, 08 and loved it. The location is right in the middle of downtown. The shops in the area are all very fun and varied. The rooms are very Victorian and made for a nice vacation experience. We had read some of the other negative reviews and were a little wary but we would stay there again and will recommend it to friends. Our room had a small kitchen and adequate bathroom.

Treated like a princess a few years ago!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/20/08
I sometimes get away from family and phones. My destination was Port Townsend this time. Stayed at this Hotel..it was breathtaking.Very warm people from owners to staff. I was treated like a princess. My room was the Birds Nest I think, it overlooked the water and main street. I was treated to a soak in the Big Bathtub..with everything I needed to relax. Thank-you so much for this wonderful experience would love to find the time to come back. Lynne

If your really HAVE to do Victorian...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/02/07
Ok, so the town is great, its people wonderful, and the victorian homes and this hotel are really something to look at. But why stay in a hotel for a price that would suggest 3 stars. The ideal hotel room is one which is clean (check), quiet (if it hadn't been for those suburban twits on the 2nd floor running around at all hours), modern amenities (that sixties couch does not go for Victorian dear owners - thank god I didn't come in the Summer) and a personable and good service at the front desk - that is what a hotel is - a service company. If you really HAVE to do Victorian, do it when school kids at school and you don't need the front desk for anything, they are likely to be still on the effects of the crackpipe.

Has loads of potential but needs help...
By Marcie Killian, 11/06/07
The Palace hotel is trying to be romantic and fussy but it needs some help. First, we stayed in the Miss Cecilia, which has a shared bath -- it was one of only two rooms available when we booked. That bit was fine, we never had to wait for the bathroom. However, our room could have used some minor adjustments to make it more comfortable. Bed: Horribly uncomfortable. Mattress was way too soft and mushy -- who sleeps on mattresses like this??? Our backs ached in the morning. No headboard or anything -- the picture of the room online shows a very cozy looking sleigh style bed. Continental Breakfast: Never came. Is supposed to be delivered in the off season at your door. We didn't see anyone with one. It would have been appreciated because apparently this town doesn't come to life until after 10am. (Also rolls up it's sidewalks at 7pm) Full disclosure about room location: I would have liked to have known that our room was literally on the landing of the second flight of stairs when I booked it. Speaking frankly, this place bills itself as a romantic getaway. However, I felt a little embarrassed about getting "romantic" with so many people passing by our door as they checked in and went about their tour of the hotel. The rooms echo A LOT due to the high ceilings and lack of ability to provide soundproofing. Overall, I probably wouldn't stay here again. The level of service just isn't what it should be for what they are trying to sell.

Beautiful 1800s Hotel - Great Value
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/25/06
We stayed here for two nights during the week. We couldn't believe how inexpensive it was considering how lovely the decor was. There is lots of the original 1800s character with grand staircases, 14 foot ceilings and old brickwork. The staff were warm, polite and pleasant, while respecting our privacy. We brought our 10 month old puppy and she got a treat every time she saw one of the staff. There was an awesome cafe, The Tyller Street Cafe, on the bottom level that had the tastiest sandwiches, pastries and coffee. The only drawbacks would be climbing stairs (for those with difficulty), and lack of soundproofing (which is normal for a building of this period).

My favorite Hotel!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/07/05
The Palace Hotel has class and unlimited charm. Climbing the stairs is a bit of a workout, but HEY it's part of the experience of being there. I won't mention being woken up in the middle of the night, by the sound of someone or something breathing in the bed next to me. No joke. I shrugged it off as a defective water heater or my overactive imagination. Seems all the more interesting since I stayed in the room solo. I will be returning to the Palace. All in all, I give this establishment high marks. While there, inquire about the Hotel's history and colorful characters of the past. And don't be surprised if you're awoken in the middle of the night. One last thought, If location, location, location is what you seek? stay right here. You won't be sorry
