Vagabond Lodge, Hood River

The Vagabond Lodge has the best location for the price, and the view from the balcony is beautiful (Hood River). Even the tap water tastes spectacular. The two-bed room was spacious enough for four people and the bathroom was also. I loved that it was quiet, clean, and accommodating. They allowed us to check in early, at 12 pm, instead of 3 pm! Just a short drive away is the toll bridge to Washington, waterfalls, mountains, winding roads, and more. They were even willing to ship the shoes I left in the room!

I had a great view of the river from my large picture window. The room was quiet, being set back from the freeway. The price wasn't bad for the area. The manager got up early (6:30 am) in her pj's to allow me to make a cup of coffee from available hot water and instant.

I went on line and found this web page. It looked like a good inexpensive place to stay. I explained that it would be my husband, my 5 year old great-nephew and myself. They ask if I wanted a room with a view I said no that wasn't necessary. They told me it would be $48. When we paid it was $64 a night. I talk to the Lady working and she informed me that we got a discount because we actually got a room with a veiw which are $74 a night. She then proceeded to tell me that they have no rooms for $48 and that if I still had a issue that I should call the owner. When we talk to the owner he said it was for the twin bed in the room. I was just disappointed that they quote me the wrong price because we almost didn't have enough money. The room was a nice clean room but it wasn't worth the money we paid. We work very hard and have to budget very hard to do extra thingsand it was a speciall occasion for us to have my great nephew because he lives 5 hours from us. It was a nice place but if you are on a tight budget get it in writing before you decided to make reservations
