23 reviews for Ireland's Rustic Lodge, Gold Beach
Ist time, cant wait to go back
By Richard R, 01/24/10
Went for a peaceful, do nothing weekend, in the Sequoia cabin. When we got there, the power up and down the coast was out, the staff had candles and a flashlight ready for us. Told us the one place in Gold Beach serving food was. Everybody was extremely helpful and friendly. The view from the cabin to the ocean was nothing less then spectacular, Definitely worth the money, the room was large with a large fireplace in the corner with firewood neatly stacked. We highly recommend Ireland's to anybody. Next time we're going to see about one of the 4 beach houses available.

Friendly Service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/03/09
The front desk girl was very funny. She knows jokes and makes you feel at home. I love the fireplace. The fire was easy to light because the kindling was very dry. I drank wine and looked at the ocean on my balcony and had a great time. It was great to have no traffic, no smog and few people on the beach. There was also a very good seafood restaurant about a block from the hotel.

People here need to learn how to treat the public
By Denise, 03/13/09
This is a beautiful location, if the owners weren't so rude, nasty, and mean. Never will I stay here again. 15 years been coming to the coast. Don't waste your money here. You will be losing a lot of customers, if you don't change your attitudes. Very poor customer service!!!!!!!!!

Bait and Switch

We went to Irelands for years. We would reserve a specific cabin and two years in a row we showed up and they had us in different room. We haven't been back.

Gross
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/01/08
Without question the worst place I have ever stayed. Dirty, smelly, not so much rustic as drab and shabby. They make you pay up front and then dock you with their 24 hour cancellation policy so you don't get your money back when you see how rotten the cabins are.

Very over priced
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/02/08
We have been staying here for years. The previous owner was very fair with their pricing. Now it is ridiculous. I can not believe with the economy being the way it is, they have almost tripled their prices.

Great place to go with dogs
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/17/07
We've stayed here 3 times now. The decor is a little too 'country' for my taste and shabby around the edges, but the location is spectacular. Most importantly they're dog lovers. You can walk your dogs right down to the beach from the room. Gold Beach is also a bit shabby, but the people are friendly and it's never busy. Where else can you go in the middle of the summer and have no one else on the beach? Skip the continental breakfast, for excellent coffee and scones head to the bookstore in town, or for gargantuan omelets there's a breakfast place in town. Restaurants are OK, not great, we usually bring one evenings worth of wine, cheese and bread and enjoy it in front of the fire. Don't miss the nearby state parks and Cape Blanco, incredible coastline.

Worst stay of our trip
By Brandie H, 07/15/07
We stayed at 5 different hotels during a drive down the OR/CA coast. This was the worst stop - we rented one of the cabins & I was hoping for rustic but cozy. What I recieved was dated & uncomfortable. The bed was terrible & the lazy boy chair in the unit was not sturdy & fell over on my 3-year old while my husband was leaning back in it a bit. We were originally give the wrong key & had to drive back to the hotel to get the right one. Breakfast was mediocre. For the price we paid, I expected a lot more.

Wonderful getaway
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/04/07
We rented the Nantucket House for a week - it overlooked the RV Park and the mini-light house. The kitchen was a joy - we cooked breakfast and dinner and sat watching the ocean in all its moods. Walk to the beach was easy and we got to pick fresh blackberries. Loved painting stones, which are in abundance - you can get the paint at the craft store next to the resort. Rooms were not spacious, but big enough. Only drawback was the walk to the front office, which is at the motel next door.

Made our trip that much more enjoyable!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/22/07
This place is the best place to stay at. The rooms have wood-burning fireplaces that are re-stocked every day. We stayed in the Pacific Breeze building that allowed smoking (big plus), 2 extremely comfortable lounge chairs, and had a balcony that you could see and hear the ocean from. There was also easy access to the beach. The staff was friendly and efficient and when we asked for more firewood after the first night, we never had to ask again in the 4 days we stayed there. Even though you check in right next door, it really isn't that much of an inconvenience. They have a complimentary continental breakfast each morning in each hotel on the weekends that will more than suffice anyone's breakfast needs. We definitely will be going back and staying at this hotel again.
