WINTER VACATION PACKAGE?
By MonsO, 04/14/08
THE Worst part of my family's spring trip was staying at the Lake Powell Resort and Marina. We paid for a Family Winter Vacation package Which was supposed to include, two night stay, $50 food credit, and an all day boat rental.. Unfortunately, We did not get to go out on the boat due to strong winds. So, I was told that I would be credited $75 for the boat rental which was normally rented for 180/a day. When It was time to check out I was told that I would not receive any credit for the money I had spent at there restaurant,(THE DRIFTWOOD LOUNGE). (What happened to the $50 food credit?) I was told "NO SIR, WE GAVE YOU $50 BOAT CREDIT AND $25 FOOD CREDIT A TOTAL OF $75" I exclaimed that I had a $50 receipt from there restaurant and that they told me i was entitled to a $75 boat credit, for the day before, a total of $125. I was very upset but, I had both people behind the counter arguing with me. After arguing for sometime I just paid the amount they said was due. I just couldn't believe, I spent $50 at there restaurant eating what was probably the worst sh-t I've ever eaten and It took them for ever to serve us. I felt bad for my kids and my wife that we had to spend two nights here. I can only hope that when someone else plans a family trip that includes the Grand Canyon, Petrified Forest, Meteor Crater, Sedona, etc. that they don't stop by this place on there way to Zion National Park. It was kind of like sliding in sh-t on your way to paradise.

The location is the only good thing
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/21/07
The only good part of this "resort" is the location. We had a lakeview room and the view was great. The rooms were old and smelled funny. We asked for the maid to come and clean the room again, hoping to get rid of the smell, but she just made it worse. Some of the pillows were also stained and we had to request new ones to be brought over. There was no easy beach access from the room. We had to drive down to find somewhere to set up our stuff for the day. Over the phone, the resort employee told us there was somewhere we could set up within walking distance of our room and not to worry: this is not true! Expect to drive somewhere if you plan on sitting on the beach or renting watercraft. If going to the Lake Powell Resort, don't expect too much. They use the term "resort" liberally and to try and make it sound better than it is. I have stayed at Motel 6's that were cleaner and newer than this place. Make sure to spend the extra money and get the lakeview room, because that's the only thing that made this a 3-star review.

Nice scenary
By Steve, 04/29/07
Got the deluxe room on the second floor, so view was beautiful. Was pretty expensive for what you got. Meal at the restaurant was so-so. Had to go to lobby for wireless internet. Three stars for location and scenary, but not much of a value.

Location-nice, rooms and service are substandard
By Mike, 04/16/07
The view from the resort room, especially the restaurant is incredible. But if it were only about the room this resort would be awesome...unfortunately, it's about so much more and this resort is lacking in many areas. (1) ROOMS - small, dimly lit, 70's-style decoration (although they claimed recently upgraded) and room smelled of rat feces and urine, (2) SERVICE - very poor. Someone really needs to teach the staff basic things such as courtesy and waiting on customers in a timely manner, (3) FOOD SERVICE - the food is okay, but the service was completely lacking. It took seven minutes to even get recognized to get seated - AND we were the only ones in line and one of only six other tables in the entire restaurant. As I wrote in #2, the staff really lacks basic customer service, (4) PARK PERMIT - the website and the staff neglect to ever mention there is a fee to get into the park where the resort is (although the fee is only $15 - this should be mentioned to anyone making a reservation.) Overall - save your money, stay at the Marriott in Page which has much larger rooms at a less expensive rate.

Be Prepared for fustrations
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/30/05
Staff did not know what to do with the package deal that the resort sold us. We were very fustrated from the time we checked in tell we left. Delays checking into to hotel, keys that didn't work, know one knowing what to do with vouchers for tours, long wait at resturant and slow service. Tours were great and would do trip again, but would stay in Page at hotel and boiik tours seperately, not in package. Also I have stayed at nicer hotel for less money...

Lake Powell Resort
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/10/05
The location is unbeatable, but the service and quality of the rooms leaves a bit to be desired. However, I have to say that that remark is based on our first stay there which was one of the poorest as far as service is concerned we have experienced. We certainly should have received some kind of compensation for that, but didn't. Since it is the only hotel in the location we like, we will continue to stay there and our second stay there was definitely better all together. Overall we go there for the location, not the hotel.

Lacking
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/04/05
The rooms were okay but had several problems during the stay. There are no elevators for the second floor. We had lot of gear for a fishing trip and had to make several tips up and down stairs. On the second day our room was not cleaned and no fresh towels. Had trouble several times getting the hotel operator to answer the phone for assistance. On check out we were informed of a bar bill and never had a drink or ate at the hotel. That was removed from the bill.

Beautiful Lake and wonderful pool
By Milton Zhu, 04/23/05
The view of Lake Powell from the resort is gorgeous, no matter for sunrise or sunset. The pool has good size 2-feet zone, which is perfect for my 4-year old son and 2-year old daughter. The power boat rental is definitely worth the value ($133 for 4 hours), and the sandy beach 5 miles north to the resort (in Utah) is wonderful place for kids and off-road driving.
