Bearskin Lodge-The River Hotel, Gatlinburg

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The room wasn't cleaned all that well, the ac had an awful rattle when it kicked on, the pipes from neighbors showers was the loudest I'd ever heard in a hotel, and the "river view" was more a view of the hotel across the river. It definitely wasn't worth the money we paid.

This was my 3rd time staying at Bearskin Lodge. This place has nice room, clean complimentary breakfast room, and great view and sound of mountain stream. Oh,also Peddler Stake house next to BL was excellent! I sure will go back to Bearskin Lodge!

My wife and I checked in for 2 nights. long story short, we got back to our room after dinner and the ceiling was leaking . front desk came up and moved the ceiling tile, water everywhere and black mold on the tile. I took a picture and the next morning checked out. Manager said when you have 88 hot tubs in a hotel there is going to be mold. Well, not in my lungs. probably the tip of the iceburg.

Ever since I found this hotel 3 years ago I have stayed no where else. This is my home away from home. The staff is so accomodating. Breakfast is always delicious and fresh. Coming from someone who has had two back surgeries the beds are heaven. Please give it a try you will not be sorry. One more nice feature, one block up is all the shops and a beautiful hiking trail.

Everything from the time we walked in was absolutely wonderful! Ok, this is Gatlinburg, but it has the most romantic setting in this populated tourist town that you will find! My new wife and I both agree that the atmosphere is incredible and we also believe that there is not another place in town that has what the Bearskin offers for the money. Not to mention the breakfast is a nice good morning treat.

I will not stay anywhere else but the bearskin for my next trip to the smokies. The room was very clean the beds huge and comfortable. I have stayed in the smokies usually in a cabin but I believe I will start staying here!

Now, I went to Gatlinburg for 4 days and I think my best choice there was going to the Bearskin Lodge. It is a bit robust to some, but what do you expect? It is a bit based on log cabin life, but isn't like a log cabin. We had a jacuzzi in our room and a beautiful view of the river from our balcony. We had two queen beds and an automatic fireplace (great for cold weather!) and a large two-room bathroom. The first room is a powder room with sink, hairdryer, and coffee-maker with coffee. The second room is the actual bathroom, with toilet and shower-bath. Now, there is a large parking deck and an elevator going up the five floors. On the third floor they have a free breakfast (self-serve) with anything you can think of. Now, if it's late and you want to relax, go down outside and into the pool and lazy river! The lazy river is flowing with warm water just letting you relax after a day of walking in Gatlinburg. Towels are found at the pool, and the pool is open to 11 so you can come and get a little privacy. Around the lazy river is a beautiful plant display. The pool is 3ft-6ft deep. Every night, the fire is lit because sometimes it's nice to sit around the fire and have fun. Even if the pool is full, go climb in your jacuzzi! The jacuzzi are two person. Now, we had a bit of a problem with ours, which is why service was excellent. When we got to our room, the knob on the cold water was missing! So we called front desk and the came and got it fixed in ten minutes after we called. I swear I had the best sleep of my life in that hotel. Stay at the Bearskin Lodge!

I too had mixed feelings of my first stay at the Bear Skin Lodge. From what you hear in some reviews it sounds horrible. It was great! Clean room, nice fireplace, decent breakfast, and walking distance to the shops and tram if you'll be skiing. I was so tired from skiing with my son I never heard any garbage trucks. The creek was just that, a creek, and the desk employees did nothing to disappoint. Heading back this week and looking forward to it.

Planned a last minute trip from OH to Gatlinburg for Halloween. Looking for an affordable place to stay and pulled in to the Bearskin Lodge. The rooms are EXACTLY as the brocure shows. It was comfortable, exceptionally clean, the staff is great and the price was even better. My boyfriend and I had the time of our lives. We were within walking distance of EVERYTHING! I recommend Crawdaddy's for a good time with karaoke and the Pancake Pantry for breakfast...get there early so as not to wait in line down the block! Thanks Bearskin Lodge! We will DEFINATELY be back!

We had planned a last minute trip to Gatlinburg - and were looking for a nice clean place to stay - but not too expansive. When we pulled up, I was shocked - the hotel looked great. After reading the bad reviews, I actually almost canceled the reservations. So glad I didn't! We were traveling with our 2 kids. The room was large, and clean! Loved the fireplace! Gave the room great character! Had a great room overlooking the river. Beds were comfortable. True, it only had 1 elevator, but it wasn't so bad. Didn't have to wait too long (max: 2-3 minutes). The staff was great. Had no problems. Hotel was convenient to everything. We just walked everywhere. Looking forward to our next trip back! Would stay again anytime! Great value for the money.
