Island Vista, Myrtle Beach

Did not receive the room type reserved. Told by front desk that I would be contacted by a manager before my departure when registered complaint. Never heard from him. The sheets wouldn't stay on the teeny tiny beds. The A/c in the room took forever to cool the room down (nearly an oven when we checked in.) Maintenance tried to gas us all with chemicals while trying to enjoy the pool. The bellman nearly ran me with luggage cart and my husband over while attempting to enter our room. Housekeeping didn't replenish shampoo or soap after cleaning the room. I'll be going back to the Patricia Grand from this point forward.

I go to the beach every year, and always try to pick a different place to stay. This year for our annual getaway, we choose Island Vista. The rooms were great (we had a 3 bedroom). They were very clean and spacious. The parking was great, because though you parked in a garage, you could park on the level of your room and walk right out to your car without getting on an elevator. The breakfast was great (try the sweet potato pancakes) and they gave us a $35 gift card to the restaurant, though it was for dinner only. Lastly, the staff went out of their way to accomodate us. On the first night there, one of my friends got lost, so they stayed on the phone with her until she was able to find the hotel. On the second day, my other friend's battery was dead, so one of the maintenance guys used his own personal vehicle to give her a jump. I would definitely recommend this for a family,or group of friends that want to get away. One more thing. The view was really nice (you must get an ocean front) and if you don't they have rocking chairs downstairs so you can simply sit out back and rock, while watching the sun set and rise over the ocean.

We paid for an oceanfront room, when we got there we had an oceanview room, BIG DIFFERENCE. Of course they wouldn't do anything to fix their mistake. We'll never go back there.

There were 9 of us including four children staying in a four bedroom unit for a week. We were very disappointed with one glaring thing which is worth noting. To say the kitchen is not stocked well is an over statement. It only has service for 10 on silverware, dishes and glassware. It literally has no serving dishes, only two pots, one frying pan and absolutely no other kitchen accessories like strainers, storage containers etc. After staying in a number of upscale Condos here in Myrtle Beach over the years, we had an expectation of what to find in the way of amenities. I talked to the GM who said the developer provided all the kitchen amenities so I can only assume that all of the units are similarly appointed. This shortcoming could all have been avoided if the owners and management company invested as little as $200.00 in things you need if you expected to eat in. We purchased the items we need to ensure a lovely stay. The Unit is lovely and well appointed and the Staff was as helpful as possible but could not remedy the noted shortcomings. It is run like a hotel with bellmen, 24 hour staff and a guitar player at the pool. If the kitchen is not important, it’s a great place to stay. One other item worth noting is the lazy river. It’s inside and gets no sun. It has a waterfall so don’t plan to read a book while using it As an aside this unit is currently on the market for $999,000. There is a stack of sales brochures in the unit.

This has been our 4th trip to the Island Vista, & we will be back for #5. Clean, great loc, friendly staff, value = don't we all wish things were cheaper :o) ... Great family vacation spot in away from all other resorts but still in MB, not over crowded pools or beach. ......Minersville, PA

My parents come down every year in January to visit. We absolutely LOVE the Island Vista and truly look forward to coming back every year. The housekeeping staff is friendly and professional...they do a great job! I wish I could bring them home with me. The front desk staff is always smiling and happy to help me with whatever I needed from cab service to getting great deals to shows and attractions around Myrtle Beach. The restaurant has amazing food, great service and oh what a view! The pools and pool deck are spacious! I love that the outdoor pools have different levels so that the younger children can be in the same area as their older siblings. The location is superb. You are in a residential area so it is so peaceful and quiet but yet you are so close to everything at the same time. We have walked threw several other hotels and everything was just so built up and smooshed together that it was beginning to feel claustrophobic and we were just visiting friends! Really helped us realize how spoiled we are at the Island Vista. The rooms are also very large and nicely decorated! We loved the pillows and they were able to tell me where we could order them for own home! I cannot wait to go back!

Our ocean front room was on the 11th floor with a breath taking view of the beach! We had a Queen suite which was the scale of a condo. I was amazed at the size and comfort in this suite. The staff was friendly, courteous and professional. The location is convenient to restaurants, shopping and entertainment. I have recommended Island Vista to several friends, and I plan to return in May and July of 2008. One negative comment "get rid of the fuzzy" blankets.

Me and my husband visited this hotel just after the spring breakers left. It was a beauty, a great location on the beach. The room and view was spectacular and the pools were great to relax by and everything was very clean. We will be back next year.

Okay,first of all, I've read several reviews about this hotel before booking. I was a little concerned because several reviewers found the staff 'unfriendly' etc. My experience was just the opposite. I found the front desk personnel ultra friendly and helpful. Our party of five arrived a day early. Although our three bedroom suite was not available, we were given a one bedroom unit at a discount for the night. The one bedroom turned out to be more than sufficient for three kids and two adults. The next morning, our suite was ready, and the bellman moved our things while we were at the beach. The hotel was gorgeous, the grounds well kept; pools were great!!!! The surf was a little tough due to currents, so keep your eyes on little ones!!! Many activities in the area!! Great destination!!
