Budget Host Travelers Motel, Alexandria

Cleaner and neater than most "HOTELS" I have stayed at. A bit dated (so what) and right off the main road (even I could not miss it) If you need a nice clean place to hang your hat for a day or a few, this is IT !! Very obviously run by a nice family. If I go back this way I will stay here again, as my first pick I was going to give it 4 stars because it was a budget motel but I had to give it 5 in good conscience. They earned it.

This little motel was great place to stay when I passed through the area for a few days. The owner and his son run the place and seemed very dedicated to making sure that their customers needs were met. My room was clean and affordable and the location is close to a Metro station and Old Town Alexandria which made site seeing a breeze. I'd stay there again if I was in the area.

One night, coming back into my room at 10PM, my room door wouldn't open. I was required to wait for about 15 minutes for a manager, who doesn't seem to stay at the premisses. After about 45 minutes trying to open my room door, he told me that I would have to wait for a locksmith, which "could take some time", and in lieu of at least an apology I was told simply that "things happen". After I insisted to have my window broken into, so that I could retrieve my belongings and not have to wait for a locksmith, I was placed in another room -- according to them, the only room left. I noticed that this room had an extra door that locked from inside, and upon asking about it they said that the door was also locked from the outside and that it led to a laundry room. I decided to check it myself, and, to my surprise, found out that the door was not kept locked from the outside and that it led straight into a laundry room that was kept opened and which, in turn, led straight into the street. To top it all off, I arrived back home with major welts from what seem to be bed bug bites.
