Clean hotel and right on the beach
We stayed here 07/13-07/17/10. Price was a little over $900 for 2 adults. I read many reviews online before choosing this hotel. We wanted to stay on the beach, so this put our price higher than expected. We had a AAA discount. I also called the hotel directly to make the reservation. To my suprise, the price was the same online as it was when I called. They also sent me via the mail a print out of my confirmation. I did have to pay one night say in advance. The rest I paid we when arrived.
The hotel is 3 stories and no elevators. An employee will greet you in the parking lot when you pull in as there are not many spots. The staff has the parking lot under control and advise you where to park. The staff at the front desk is very polite and recommended a local restaurant to go to. Tautogs on 23rd/Atlantic. It was very good. They even printed out directions for us.
The room was very clean as was the outside pool. As we were coming and going, we saw cleaning staff all day. The stairs and hallways outside are carpeted and they were constantly cleaning. The bathroom was a bit small, but it was clean and served it's purpose. Balcony had great view of the ocean and boardwalk.. it was a little small, but just enough room for the 2 of us. AC in the room worked great. There is a fridge with a little freezer and a safe. Beds were comfortable and pillows seemed new.
The gentleman that also was maintaining the pool checked the chlorine levels several times. The results are posted by the pool. He would also be seen hosing off the deck around the pool in the morning. I worked at a pool for 10 years, so I was glad to see someone keeping it clean and maintaining the chemicals for it. There is also an outside shower to rinse off the sand before getting in the pool. The pool is a little small, however we had 2 full sized rafts which we laid on in the pool and typically no more than a couple people were in it at a time. The sun is on the pool most of the day, which is nice if you were tired of the sand at the beach. They also have a little continental breakfast - cereals, coffee, OJ, pastries, muffins and bagels. The coffee was very good too. No need to buy a fancy coffee down the street. Not really any room to eat in the lobby, but we would sit at one of the tables by the pool to have breakfast.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone that would like to stay at VA beach. If we go back to VA beach, we will be staying here again.
