we have been there at least 4 times, and yes it has improved with the new owners, and no its not a 5 star, and your not paying for a 5 star, its clean everything you could want ,close to everything will return .mangment was good to us last year because i got sick on a boat and cut our trip short see you soon GRAMMARS OF OHIO
We have stayed for many years in the past recently not so good but with new owners and new management again it is not a new resort but a very nicely resort on the beach. Clean, new paint, new furnishings, new bedding and new furniture. Don't expect a 5 star resort but a nice place to just enjoy the sunsets and beach. Give them another try if you have stayed before they have improved 100 percent.
If you have lived in an Ethiopian Refugee camp for the last ten years--you will love this dump--I mean place. Let see what we can say nice about it.......well it is across the street from Crabby Bill's.......so if you drink a lot..........and you look both ways before you cross the street---you can make it home safe. It's dirty. It is not clean. There is NO service at all. No cleaning of the room. YOU have to take out the trash each day. You have to set out the dirty laundry. The place is a dump. It should have been torn down years ago.
We stayed over Labor Day weekend 2007. No AC in hallways, looks very institutional, elevator barely worked, rooms were musty, bedspreads, carpets and drapes were threadbare. Pool was not heated. Bathroom was clean, but the rest was not. Cannot alter temp on AC and if you leave the door to the balcony open, the AC shuts off so you have to call management to turn back on IF it is before 7pm! Bute the balcony had a beautiful view and the beach was wonderful, walking distance to some restaurants. Very depressing place...the balcony and beach were the only good features, but not good enough to ever go back to that dump.
After a breack we went back again in the Gulf Tower Motel. The Motel was sold about 2years now so the cleanness and the Building is a little bit down now, but the Room was good. The new Manager is a friendli Man also Ruth too.The Location directly at the Gulf an the Room Rate are the best along that coast. We will be back at this place wenn possible.Greetings from Switzerland,Rolf and Liz
I stayed at Gulf Towers for a week in January every year since '01. Sure, it was a little run down, but that was it's charm. The price was right so I had no complaints. In January '06 I paid $546 for a week in a gulf front room. When I called to make my reservations today for the second week of January '07, I got a little surprise. The same room I stayed in for the previous 6 years would now cost me $735. I spoke to the manager Ken and pleaded my case for a break in the price considering I was a loyal customer in the past. I said I'd be willing to meet him half way in the increase. It fell on deaf ears. He was rude and arrogant and said I should take it or leave it. I left it. The funny thing is is that the Hotel was always pretty much empty the week I'd stay there. You'd think new owners would want to retain established previous customers like myself. At Gulf Towers, they don't seem to have a clue. Too bad for them.
My family and I have been staying at the Gulf Towers for 12 years now. We found the place by accident, as we decided to plan a last minute, mini vacation during spring break. AS we drove around Indian Rocks it was the yellow Jesus loves you, sign that caught our eyes.
If your looking for a lap of luxury or a 5 star hotel Gulf towers is not for you. It's basically the last hotel left in Indian Rocks, on the beach with a pool. Every room is an efficiency which makes life a lot easier. It's a very old Hotel with limited staff. Just recently sold by good old Marilyn and Otto.
I recommend that you try it before it goes condo. I know my wife and I will always remember the gulf towers and we will miss it once it's gone. We have very fond memories and have met people from all over the world at Gulf Towers. We Will be there again this July 2006, Whatching the fire works from our same old balcony, as we have for the past 12 years.
