Veranda Inn, Englewood

The rooms were very spacious and clean. I loved the veranda all the way around the Inn. Our room was on the back and we had a lovely view overlooking the canal and river behind the Inn. Nice salt water pool over looking the river. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Air conditioning system worked great without being noisy. No problem with noise from neighbouring room or from traffic despite being right on the edge of a major road. Great location. Within a few blocks of many restaurants as well as grocery store. Mama's Italian Restaurant right next door has excellent food at reasonable prices. Although they don't take debit or credit cards they do have an ATM. Only two minor negative points. A few places in the room could have used some paint. Also bring your cell phone as there is no long distance available from the room phones. If you're looking for a well kept place to stay with great staff and reasonable prices this is definitely the place for you.

I was very unhappy with our room. I'll list the good and the ugly. Good, was location and room size, and pretty from the street. Nice curb appeal. Price was okay if the room had been nice. The bad. I would not take my shoes off. If my dog had been there I would not have let her sleep on the carpet. To me it looked like a hotel/motel that was undergoing renovation - minus the renovation. In the room was a cheap round table with two chairs. The upholstry was riped on one of the chairs. There was a big mirror that should have had a desk under it - but there was none. Again, big room, would be nice to have a stuffed chair. No bureau. The lamps were metal and all rusted and pealing at the bottom. The TV was very small, especially for such a large room. Beds were okay - not great. I complained at the front desk about how dirty the carpet was, I was told, "well, if the cleaning people don't tell us, we can't know". Please! The dirt was not from a single visit or two. It was long neglect. No coffee maker, refrigerator, or microwave. Very bare bones. Other than the carpet - the cleaning was okay. I took pictures so if anybody doesn't believe me I have them available.

CLEAN rooms, WATER vviews from every place on the property; HUGE rooms (standard rooms are the size of a king suite in other hotels), VALUE price, conveniently located, QUIET (solid walls) rooms, accept PETS, walk to RESTAURANTS, ENTERTAINMENT, PARKS, lots of WILDLIFE (birds, manatees. Staff treats you more like you are staying at a bed and breakfast than a motel. AC was very good for the huge room (a problem with many hotels in Fl keeping rooms adequately cooled). HUGE bathroom area with double sinks. FREE coffee and tea in the morning. BIKE, KAYAK, HIKE, SWIM, FISH all within 5 minutes of motel. A hidden GEM!

THE STAFF WAS VERY POLITE AN HELPFUL, IT HAD A POOL TO COOL OFF IN. A CUP OF COFFEE/TEA IN THE NICELY DECORATED LOBBY AREA.POP AN SNACK VENDING ALL ABOUT THE BREEZEWAYS. I HAVE A BAD LEG, SO THE ELEVATOR WAS A BLESSING ..

I have had esperience with this facility going back to 1995. I have stayed there yearly in either Jan or Feb each year. The facility has great potential! The cleanliness has been good in my experience. It's the routine maintanece that is less than perfect. You will have covered parking, which is rare at any facilty. They have been making constant improvements to the facility since my first experience, but as I said who ever does thier rehab work is not the highest caliber. I would rate the place a B-. But it could easily be a strong A with better attention to detail! I have found the personel to always be courtiess, and respectful. I expect to stay there again later this month.

I was shocked, after paying $98.00 a night for this room(in season) and the mattresses were so bad, that I woke up every hour. I thought maybe it was just the one room, so I took a second chance and same thing. They have to have the cheapest mattresses of anywhere we have ever stayed. The rooms are very clean, but don't think I would stay there again - considering I just want to get a good nights sleep. It's too bad that they can't take some of their profit and put it back into comfort.

This was my second stay at the Veranda with friends on a golf trip. The first time was exactly two years ago and the place was great!! Same friends went this time and we were all disappointed. Place is definitely getting a little run down and dirty. Beds were absolutely horrible....it wouldv'e been better to sleep on the floor. Looking for a new place to stay next year.

Hotel was located right on busy street. The bed was TERRIBLE!!! Roaches in the room. I would NEVER go back! There is a good restaurant across the street, that was the only good thing about the Veranda Hotel.

I'm going to agree with the other review I read about the Days Inn, we rented a room one night there and there were ants in the bed plus if that wasn't bad enough I also found someones black hair on one of the beds I know it wasn't mine ( I have blond hair). I complained to the front desk and that was like talking to a wall no response. I've been to Englewood many times after and if the Veranda is full I'll just drive the couple hours back home rather than stay at the Days Inn. Cindy Pagan Wauchula Florida

My Family always takes a Vacation to Englewood Every year, and we Always stay at the Veranda the rooms are always clean. the service we get is terrific. and my children just Love the heated pool, we live in ohio so the kids are amazed to be swimming in the pool in December. we will always come back to Veranda you just cant beat the price or service you get
